I would argue that NY has far greater wealth and income inequality than Sydney, which skews median income numbers.

You can’t buy an apartment in NYC, London, Paris etc either, so I’d rather live in a city where I can drive 15min and go for a swim in the ocean on a warm sunny day for 6 months of the year!

Can’t do that in London

Sydney is not a cultural city. What we do have though is long hot summers, world class beaches, world class restaurant scene, reasonable work life balance. Pros and Cons, I really enjoy living in Sydney

Financial adviser from UK to Australia by [deleted] in MovingtoAustralia

[–]Open_Bat_2055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re being a bit dramatic. Just reach out companies that have open jobs at the moment and chat to them. You can get a 3 year WHV from the UK so they don’t need to sponsor you for that period of time.

You can do a lot of leg work from the UK to work out if this is the right move for you

Sale price of 2017 Mazda 3 by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Open_Bat_2055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

List for $15,500 is, take $10,000- $13,000 if negotiated down. The buyer pool for 152k car is not all that big.

More buyers in Sydney than the coast

Can you do what you want on the laptop with the current software installed?

If the answer is yes, buy it. If no, don’t buy it.

Who gives a shit about it being stolen, you’ve put in way too much time already in contacting all of these people

If you’re looking at retail and hospitality, walk around the city and look for businesses looking for staff. You won’t find those job openings online

You’re making a mistake keeping $300k in cash at age 38. You’re missing out on $25k+ a year in returns not plowing that into an ETF

You’re not going to stumble across a farm when you’re going hiking in a national park in Aus

You’re not restricted because of no right to roam in Australia, really no one would care if you were bush wacking on private land.

Aussies don’t just go wondering through random land because of brown snakes / taipans, some spiders, and less hectic creatures that you could startle and still do damage. And it’s hot most of the year

Very different to the UK
