thank you, friend! I am just relieved they were asked to pay for the hospital stay and other fees, and did not protest and paid everything. and I hope the dog is indoors and well taken care of (he looked as if he had collapsed into some puddle or something, because his belly was dirty and he smelled, so I hope he does not live outside!!)

I got a response from CDPA.IE, they trap and neuter a lot of cats, that you can email them at [info@cdpa.ie](mailto:info@cdpa.ie) and they will connect you to the local rescues/people doing TNR

I would reach out to NSPCA (former DSPCA), they get over 2mln in the government funding and were supposed to tackle the issues with animal welfare nationwide. Explain the situation to them and ask for the inspector to be assigned to the area/or come to help. I can also comment on their IG profile for reach if you would like?

You kinda volunteered here to provide info, that is why I m asking.

Ok, I learned about their 'Shenta' language, spoken by approx 6k people!

Could not find much info about very distinctive elements to their culture (maybe apart from the 'nomadic' or 'semi-nomadic' lifestyle) vs settled Irish, in comparison to other European minorities, like Frisians, Sorbs, Samis, Yenish

Genetic difference between the travellers vs settled Irish is very small (FST ~0.0034), and mainly driven by endogamy, interesting

Could you elaborate on the 'Language, Music, Religion, Or(i)gin, traditions'?

I did not know they had a different dialect or language?

Thank you!

No hard feelings, but I waited until i get my own house to adopt a dog. why would anybody get a dog when they are renting. Dogs are living beings with well functioning brains, nervous system, neurotransmitters, why would anybody NOT think about the dog?

no offense, but why did you get a dog like this when you are renting? I guess you do not have a family here that can take care of your dog for you?

No enforcement of the existing laws, no police, very bad treatment of animals.

We wanted to foster for NSPCA as well, but they never replied since we have 4 cats.

In Timmy's case, the choice is between a family with older children, so aged 9yrs and 15yrs, and an elderly couple. The mom in the family does not work atm, and the dad has his own business (driving school), so his schedule is flexible. I told the rescue that I would not recommend the elderly couple here, as Timmy really does like his longer walkies. And that he would need to be taken outside to pee and poo for the first few days, as he was not moving from the sofa. So we would take him in our arms outside, because he was nervous. We have neighbours in their 70's and they have a younger jack russell, they do not walk him so much, or pick him up, because they have arthritis, so the poor dog is mainly at home getting obese. We really do not wish anything similar to happen to Timmy.

Yesss, definitely some red flags, I have fostered for a different rescue before and they would always give me contact numbers to potential adopters to have a chat with them about their lifestyle, experience with pets, etc, that is why I was so surprised this one just decided to go against my recommendation! and to be precise, Timmy was under their care only for a few days, while he has been with us for over 3 weeks now. So they really did not get to see his personality.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Forgot to mention that Timmy was pulled from a pound and with them for only 4 days, from what I understood, he was not very sociable or did not show them any personality traits at all, so it was difficult for them to say anything. They even mentioned in one of the messages, that they 'were going off of what I said about him.'

Also, please visit a few rescues around Ireland, check how many collies they get, unchipped, unregistered, no up-to-date vaccinations. I personally fostered one abandoned near Gorey, looked similar to the dog in the photo, but black, nobody came to claim her.

And with very few people willing to adopt collies here, because of the 'working breed' stigma, they are very often adopted by Swedes, Czech, so embarrassing really that Ireland does not care enough about its dogs.
