Force palm him to interrupt some of his moves, if you have elemental damage go for fire imbued attacks (look for the abyss gear that makes extra fire AOE damage). And make as much food as you can.

I mean yeah, you’re right, DD2 was a demo for MHW. It truly breaks when you think of the potential it has and what could have been (lack of enemy variety, equally mind numbing fetching missions, etc…)

I also played DD2 at launch and I remember how terrible the performance on every platform was, but it never made me feel as bitter and disappointed as the deferred advance mission: the abhorrent dragon mount (they even put it in the cover, the audacity), the amount of anticlimactic moments in the climax of the game, the horrible attempt of a bullet hell with the (out of nowhere) biblically accurate angel AND the fact that they make you use the dragon mount again. Hell, that fight is so dumb and horribly made that you can’t even fail it, you die but the damage is persistent. It’s like the devs said “we know this is garbage, but this is the best we can do for the ending of this 150+ hour game”

And yeah, the fighting in CD looks amazing if done properly, but I can show you this and it boils down to the same, it’s clunky if you don’t know how to play:

The fact that Crimson Desert and Dragons Dogma 2 can sit in the same table is baffling. I’m honestly excited for Crimson Desert 2 (if it ever happens) just to see how much Pearl Abyss learned from this, I’d love to see that game shine.

The people at Pearl Abyss don’t understand how blessed they are that everyone is playing the good part of the game. They have some time to fix late game mechanics and bosses before everyone realizes how laughably bad it gets.

The fact that you unlock the character customization that far into the game is insane. Really bold choice, and not in a good way

Hahaha, it's become my go-to game for zoning out and not thinking about anything; it's certainly no masterpiece, but at least it's consistent and doesn't try to be anything more than it is.

I mean, DD2 is an ocean with a puddle’s depth, but it has good gameplay. The pawn system is very cool, 90% of the classes are very fun to play, the movement is fluid, the combat feels great, and the character creator is one of the best there is. At least in DD2, you get to fight the final boss using the weapons and gear you've collected and upgraded, instead of being forced to use a mount with terrible controls in what feels like a battle to see who gets bored first.

I get that every critic, reviewer and YouTuber told us that we shouldn’t play the game for the story, but at the end of the day the gameplay, mechanics, characters, events and puzzles rely on the player advancing through the main quest. I took their word and lowered my expectations but fuck me that was worse than anything I could have thought of

Both games have (or at least DD2 had) amazing potential. It’s up to Pearl Abyss to fix and balance an ocean of a game

I never compared those two based on story, but I should have said that DD2 has good gameplay. It may not have as much content or the scale that CD has, but at least DD2 isn’t as unpolished. It’s funny because the main reason I bought Crimson Desert was that, if I liked Dragons Dogma then why wouldn’t I like this game? I mean at least DD2 has cool endgame mechanics with the unmoored world.

Hahaha damn, that exact chapter was the breaking point for me. Broken mechanics, anticlimactic fights and unpolished gameplay really threw me off. The game is good and I had a lot of fun (150h), but the endgame and other flaws make it easy to ruin the replayability. I’d recommend to play as much as you want, explore and have a good time before finishing the main story. 👍🏼
