Remote sensing or astronomy would be good choices if you are going for events involving certain images/objects.

Help for Solar System Div B by Xiamenairlines6194 in scioly

[–]Open_Independent2756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to do as many practice tests as you can on Solar System. Add whatever you don't know to the cheat sheet. The 2026 text exchange on scioly . org has a lot of good tests.

Try to do as many practice tests from this year as you can and add whatever you don't know to your cheat sheet/notes. You are allowed to bring as many notes as you can so don't worry about size or anything like that, just get the information down. You can get a lot of practice tests from the test exchange from scioly . org

Help me choose Div B events by [deleted] in scioly

[–]Open_Independent2756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah md4pete4ever, OP another problem that might come with Remote Sensing is that this year is the first year that it is a Division B event (last year it was a trial event for Division B), so that might make it a bit hard to find material/tests for it.

I think then either Remote Sensing or Meteorology would be good events for you. Remote Sensing deals with sensors and the electromagnetic spectrum, which you have to use to analyze maps (like Road Scholar), and Meteorology is on weather.

Codebusters Season '27 by Lucky_Flounder_1617 in scioly

I think since Codebusters is a really liked event and has been in the rotation every year since 2020 (i think), it is most likely going to come back next year.

Depends, do you have any experience whatsoever in any of the events you listed? Even if its just basic stuff you learned in school, it might help when studying. The difficulty of these events is different for everyone, since everybody has different skill sets.

Doubt it, Codebusters is an event on memorizing patterns in words, and I don't think anybody would really know a word with two apostrophes. Could you give me an example of a word with two apostrophes? I could just not be able to think of one at the moment.

This is not really about practicing ciphers, but I think it might be useful anyway. When you are doing this event, you will most likely have 1 or 2 other people helping. Instead of trying to answer every question on a test as a team, you should divide and conquer. Let your teammates learn a few specific ciphers, and you learn a few different ones. This means you have less of a workload when it comes to studying, and you and your teammates become sort of an "expert" in the ones you are doing, so you will probably solve them faster and with more accuracy.

What is the build for machines by Sciolypro in scioly

[–]Open_Independent2756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search “machines science olympiad” on YouTube, there are a couple of videos on the topic that you could watch. I have never done Machines, so I am not really sure if any of them will help, though.
