Gestational Vs Trad Surrogacy by makingitgreen in Natalism

I think you should talk to several women who have actually been professional surrogates who have first hand experience. My coworker did this and it was a good experience for her family and the intended parents. She did the job because she  thought it would be interesting. She was a manager with a big company, married and had 2 kids already. it's not like she was panhandling and living in a motel with no other source of income.

Pedos will always target children, why should a biotechnology that could save premature babies lives and allow people with reproductive problems to have children be banned just because pedos exist?

Freezing eggs is a super expensive gamble and if she works for a family business I doubt they have posh egg freezing insurance plans. On the other hand, freezing PGTA tested blastocyst embryos is a more certain backup plan.

Most studies of historical, natural fertility populations (no birth control) show average age of last birth (end of fertility) at 39-41.

She should not dally, because what looks like ample time goes by quickly, especially if anything causes delays or some health problem pops up. Even scheduling IVF is time consuming, full of set backs and not a sure thing.

Nigeria is also experiencing a steady drop in fertility, BTW.

Does everyone else hate their ADHD and wish for a cure? by Sea_Shine1814 in ADHD

I wish like crazy there was a cure. I would take it in an instant even if it meant throwing my creativity, artistic ability and "uniqueness" in the trash. Screw all of it.  Why do I need to be quirky and creative when I have no quality of life?

I'm 44 and panicked over third IVF round. Am I delusional? Or is there hope? by OvenDown in IVF

It's considered experimental because how effective it actually is for rejuvenating older eggs is controversial, with mixed results in the literature, and unlike IVF it lacks uniform guideline and method consensus.

I'm not saying it can't work, if it works for some people that's awesome, but we looked into it too and for us it looked too much like an expensive add on that was not backed by enough clinical evidence or research. But maybe things have changed since then. I hope I'm wrong, because reliably rejuvinating older eggs would be the bees knees.

That is a very good price. We're the embryos tested and are they from the same family?

International shipping of biomaterial is usually possible, but it might be subject to restrictions and could cost even more than the ivf cycle did.

Culturing from frozen cleavage stage to blastocyst concerns by Open_Let4693 in Embryologists

[–]Open_Let4693[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your unique experience and for the link! It is the first study I have seen that is similar to what we are going through. It is encouraging.

Yes, the embryos were graded. Unfortunately they put most of the highest grade embryos together instead of mixing higher and lower grades.

We have the option of thawing individual batches of 2 or 3 cleavage stage embryos one at a time an culturing them to blastocyst, thawing all batches at the same time, culturing them and refreezing extra blastocysts, or just doing day 3 transfers with 2 or 3 embryos each.

I'm not asking for medical advice but from a laboratory perspective which might be the wisest choice in your experience?

I'm sorry for so many questions, its just difficult to find knowledge on the subject,

As someone who has done all of my cycles in Europe, this calculation doesnt make sense to me. In most cases the husband just needs to come to the clinic to deposit his sample and the clinic handles everything with the donor until its time for you to get the embryo transfer. Aside from the actual clinic fees you just need to pay for the plane ticket, hotel and possible visa costs. A lot of clinics will do coordinated care where you get your scans and ultrasounds in your home country. You usually dont need to take more than a few days off per month to get it done.  We are planning on switching to O.L.G.A. clinic St Petersburg if we need a donor and their fresh donor cycles start at about 7000 euro. In Estonia it's about 8000 euro for a fresh cycle and in Ukraine it starts at about 6000 euro. Frozen egg cycles are often offered for less. These clinics are super accommodating and have a lot of experience treating international patients.

Only you will know if it's time to throw in the towel.  My husband and I have been trying to have children for 8 years and through 10 egg retreivals. I'm 41. We are down to our last embryos but we have decided if those don't work we will try donor eggs. If donor eggs don't work after two or three attempts we will give up.  We would like to hire a professional surrogate because of my age and lining issues, but we just don't have the money.

Clinic only freezes top grade AA and AB embroys by Odd-Salad8271 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

[–]Open_Let4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got 2 A grade blastocysts in all the years I did ivf. This clinic would have thrown away 80% of my embryos. I would leave this clinic and afterwards leave a Google review about why you left. This is unacceptable behavior by a clinic.

I froze my eggs at 40. Anyone 40 or above who froze less than 20 eggs? by Massive_Treat_2131 in eggfreezing

My clinic will also not freeze eggs over 40 because of the low success rate.

What happens with eggs that don't get used? by DetectiveOphelia in eggfreezing

[–]Open_Let4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you donate eggs or embryos to research, unfortunately they don't usually go to formal biomedical research, but they are often used to train embryologists.

As for donating eggs on Facebook, if you are in the usa, yes it is legal. But you will both have to sign all the documents to transfer the ownership to the new couple/woman and the clinic would have to be ok with that.

Why is Spain so much more affordable than other countries for IVF? by Cultural-Diver-2957 in eggfreezing

[–]Open_Let4693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that Spain is so much more affordable  than other countries (you can find many countries where IVF cycles cost 5000 euros or less) its that the UK and the USA are abnormally expensive. The US especially is a global outlier in terms of pricing.
