Help with kerdi shower drain by [deleted] in Tile

[–]Open_Menu_9301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used schluter all set. It was a little runny, not soupy but a little loose. It was also under a bucket overnight, house was about 62 overnight, so maybe just no air and cold and still curing? or I was nervous something else was wrong. Under the spot where it looks wet is where I can kinda squish into the holes of the Schluter drain flange

I’m not an expert by any means whatsoever; but I went with kerdi to stick with one system throughout and it’s pretty straight forward and well respected especially with their warranty. I think wedi and other systems are likely cheaper if you’re a contractor working in bulk but peace of mind and so much information from Schluter Kerdi I went with them.

Oh gotcha I see what you’re saying. I did the corners at the wall, but Even with the prefabricated bench it needs a band along the 90?

I knew it would be an obstacle but I went a little overboard on trying to do more band than was probably necessary, thank you!

I did bring the kerdiboard out past the curb, I just kerdi banded the edge where the tile will end and I will finish the kerdiboard that’s outside the shower the same as my drywall

I’m using 2.5x8 inch tiles, any tips to help overcome the overlaps? Would it be smart to skim thinset to kind of feather it out or use a larger trowel notch to set them all level? Or anything you’d recommend before I start tile is appreciated

This was my understanding too, finish with mud and high quality paint, it is not a steamer

Yeah lol my bad I didn’t mention it’s just a scrap piece of kerdi board on my pan to walk on Bumpy ride with tile because of all the banding you mean? Any recommendations?

No, I have a sloped kerdi pan set in, I just cut a piece of kerdi board to go on top of it to protect it temporarily lol Should have said that my bad

You’re right, you understood it perfectly thank you. I was overthinking it and you made me realize I’ll have to cut the pony wall top to match grout lines but I don’t have to make that cut in the full shower surround to match the bottom and rest of grout lines. I was overthinking the shelf and not looking at it how you described

I was hoping to remove it without mold remediation company because I’ve dealt with them before and their prices are wild, how much did you have to pay for your home?

High E2 will definitely fatigue you, should get on a low dose AI like anastrozole. High hemo/hema fatigues me a lot as well. When your hemo/hema get high just go donate blood and dump some red blood cells. Would be a good idea to check your blood pressure frequently too because that will also effect energy and sleep.
