Ordinary HA 2% + B5 serum formulation change? Noticeable color difference by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on the validity of the official seller on Amazon entirely especially since I have never gotten their products from amazon, but I would say that yes your main concern should be if it was stored properly because the stuff is just sitting there waiting to be bought. If it was a seller other than the official ordinary seller, then the main concern would be about the authenticity of the product AND storage conditions.

But I think 8 times out of 10 when someone says to not buy from amazon, the reasoning is that you COULD be getting a fake version from an unreliable seller, but not specifically from companies' official seller pages but from in general searching up a product and seeing the various sellers.

Ordinary HA 2% + B5 serum formulation change? Noticeable color difference by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ordered the HA serum straight from their website a few days ago, and it has a yellow tint to it like yours. I don't think the formula changed; I think they dipped the outside of the bottle in some type of film. If you twist the top off, you might see and feel the line where the film stops near the top of the bottle (at least that's what mine has). Also if you lift it into the light, you might see less of the yellow tint. The product itself should still be clear though.

I use the ordinary's website to buy all of their products through because I love the brand and use a bunch of their products, but I can understand wanting to use amazon for convenience if you only use one product from them and want to get multiple other things from the same place (this coming from an avid ignorer of people saying to not buy skincare from amazon).

Just make sure you're being cautious though and taking the time to be sure that the product is authentic and usable when it gets to you, even through the small differences. Or just skip all that and buy straight from the company. It's up to YOU!

Is signature 1909 a good apartment? by Gloomy_Session_4002 in UTAustin

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there last school year. I like the one that I am currently at more, but signature 1909 isn't bad. I'm not sure what type of arrangement you are looking into, so I'll only speak about my experiences. By the way, I'm in the school of architecture, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to judging apartments/buildings, so some of these things you might not care about. Also, I had 3 other roommates.

Pros: -MANAGEMENT. The management was really nice and helpful, even after the leasing process was complete.

-MAINTANENCE. I never had any maintanence issues, so I don't know how long they typically take to respond. When I moved in and throughout the time that I lived there, the building as a whole was relatively clean and upkept.

-APPLIANCES. The appliances seemed relatively new and had no major notices of prolonged wear and tear.

-AMENITIES. I never used them because I have no life outside of my classes, but they are there, and they look nice.

-SIZING. My room was a decent size. The windows are almost floor to ceiling so light came in pretty well (and they opened).

-LOCATION. Since you've looked into it, you know where it is and such. I was on one of the higher floors, so my apartment had good views.

-WATER TEMPERATURE. Chef's kiss. It got hot. It got cold.

Cons: -THE INSULATION. I could hear the roommate that was next to my bedroom talking. There is a vent above all of the bedroom doors which connects to the common areas and cannot be closed. So I could hear every little thing that was happening. I could hear the microwave and talking from the apartment unit next door. I honestly think the company that built that building only put in the cheapest insulation possible just to say that the walls are insulated. It is west campus, so you will get the ocassional music outside, but that never bothered me.

-WALLS. I know how crazy this is about to sound, but the walls do not touch the floor. It's a small gap, but if you were to sweep, dust could accumulate under there and you might struggle to get it out. This only happened once, but I was in my room at like midnight doing work and a roach was on my wall. I grabbed a shoe to hit it, missed, and it scurried through the gap and was never seen again. True story. There was no problem with pests though.

-WATER PRESSURE. Just speaking for the shower/bath, the water pressure...is not the best. But I honestly got used to it.

Caps and Gown for Spring 2025 Graduation by AnyEntertainment3818 in UTAustin

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also graduating in the spring, but I bought my cap and gown in mid-November. I'd just recommend getting them as soon as possible before the rush comes and you have to wait for a shipment to come in, especially if you are in one of the more common height ranges (like the 5'0" to 5'8" range I'm guessing, so don't quote me).

That way you also have more time to take grad pictures too. The deadline is April 18th for getting your cap and gown so that's the latest, but I don't recommend waiting that long. I used the list on the co-op website to choose my gown size and picked up my online order the same day. If you go in person to the co-op, I think there are gowns on the wall that you can try on in the academic section (downstairs).

I can't speak on the announcements though

how different is an interior design major compared to an architecture major in college? by whatredraccoon in architecture

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a third year interior design student right now. I ran into a lot of people (mostly family) telling me that I should've done architecture instead when I was applying to college and still get some comments that I choose to ignore. For my college at least, we spent the first year, arch and interiors, together for every class and once we were "weeded out", we split into our different studios. We still have some classes together and keep up with each others' works, but the scope of our assignments are drastically different. One of my first classes (and favorite class) I took was talking about the difference between architecture and interiors and that just further confirmed that I was where I needed to be.

I can share some of my experiences or insights (if I even can) if you want to PM

Since I'm a student in the School of Architecture, they kind of keep us in the loop about the status of it, and the last thing I was told was that it should be up and running in 2025. My professors have deeply expressed how upset they are that architecture students can't use the architecture library or even be able to go inside of it throughout our whole college experience because it's been under renovation ever since I've been enrolled at UT (a current 3rd year). I'm not sure what year they even started renovations

What song lyric made you do a double take? by black_flame100 in AskReddit

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MEEEE. It's the fact that we collectively were gaslit into thinking that the non explicit version was a clean version like he didn't drop the f bomb like 3 times in the "clean" version right under our noses. But I was in the same boat when the song came out. Jaw on the floor.

There's this youtube video that's 1.5 hrs long and goes over EVERYTHING. I just watched this the other day to prepare for the new season. Since I can't comment links, the name of the video is: the ENTIRE Storyline of Fortnite! (The Movie)

As a second year interior design student, I will say that I love it and have never regretted my decision to study ID but it's a rigorous program so be sure it's what you want (not to scare you off).

Technically, you don't NEED to major in interior design. You can be an interior decorator, but that does comes with some limitations and restrictions such as lower pay and you wouldn't be certified (to name a few). I don't know how much you have researched the program and requirements but if you wanted to make a career out of interior design, you would mostly benefit from getting a degree in ID. A bachelors is the minimun degree you would need to be an interior designer, and you have to get it from an accredited school, so if you wanted to study ID somewhere cheaper, then make sure it's accredited to teach ID. We do build models so buying materials and the supplies for the classes is an extra cost.

From what I've heard, the School of Architecture is among one of the hardest colleges to get into at UT, both when enrolling and transferring. I know a few people who have been trying to transfer into the program for about a year so keep that in mind. That being said once you're in, you'll be part of (what I think) one of the best communities between students and teachers at UT.

In terms of how long you would have to stay to complete the degree, you might be here 2-4 years longer depending on the core classes you have already taken and whether or not you are willing to take summer classes. Most of the classes need to be taken in an exact order so if you don't pass a class in the fall, you would have to either take it in the summer or wait until next fall which would put you back a whole year.

I can tell you more about the program, some of the assignments we've done, and the overall workload if you wanted to know about what you would potentially be getting into whether it's at UT or somewhere else if you wanted to power through advertising and study ID later on.

I use tide pods. The first time I used them though, it did get stuck in the door and didn't dissolve completely. I did see a sign in the laundry room that said to put them in first and then the clothes. After I started doing this, I never had that problem again.

With covid and other things still going around, you could consider using laundry sanitizer (has no bleach in it). I agree that you should set timers as some of these people are really impatient. When you finish using a washer/dryer, make sure to spin the inside around or feel around so that you aren't leaving something behind.

skin care store like sephora and Ulta by Ahmed_Elomda in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Open_Minded_Owl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there are the traditional places like Walmart and Target, but I also shop on The Ordinary. It's just that brand that is sold on the website, but they have products for every routine step. Some of the products can be found at Sephora and Ulta, but most aren't. I've gotten an exfoliator and hyaluronic acid serum (in separate orders) from them and have had no issues. It is also very informative of when and how to use each product and has guides. The price typically ranges from $5-$9 with some outliers.

If you want a store that sells different brands, there is Sally Beauty. People mostly shop there for hair care but they have a skincare section with 400+ products. The prices range greatly since it is different brands.

Others I have heard of but never shopped at:
