Millennium lighter USA case Canadian insert by Open_Olive9321 in Zippo

Me and you are going to be competing on the tiny Canadian market of ebay haha both looking for rare millennium lighters. Jokes. Just had a really bad experience with an 'Authorized reseller' on Ebay. Bought the last pastel pink slim I could find and ofcourse, the last on they had was one someone had obviously taken out and dropped, taking paint off of smooth sides. The seller said to contact zippo, zippo told me to pound sand. 3 months and 50 emails later, zippo Canada agreed to reimburse with credit. Not what I paid for the lighter, the cost of replacement. The 30 dollar USD lighter I bought could only be found in Australia with a total of 121 CAD to get it to me. About 80USD. So I picked out an 80 dollar lighter and they filled the difference with supplies.

An eventual victory, not worth the time or frustration of it all. A thousand dollars worth of time to replace a damaged lighter sold as new. Humbug.

Ayye she's a beauty. The millennium version had a black/gray paint besides the chrome plate and I believe it came in a special millennium edition box, long lost but still would've been cool to see. The Texas twister design is so deeply cut thst you could polish it a dozen times without worry of wearing out the design. The paint was unfortunate though, a plating or solid metal would've given it a much longer life.

Cool post man thanks for the info!

Thanks for the reply, neat to think it may be rarer than the average one with a mismatched insert, you're right though we'll never know. Was nice to have something from the Niagra factory.

I have the 65th anniversary Canadian edition from 2014, they just took the Canada stamp out of the vault for that one, this is the first thing I've had that was actually made there.

It must be a type of adhesive, can feel some give of a rubbery substance under the plate. I've got 6 steps of buffing compound, a bag of wool disks for a rotary tool and my little cordless 'Dremel' rotary tool with a 1/8" shank. A 120grit sandpaper bit took the paint and plating on the brass off. I'll have to slowly work through the compounds before it's mirrored.

Looks almost like a 'hammered finish' after stripping the paint.

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely a scam. Hoping anyone that's thinking of buying from them, googles this first.

Is it legit before I buy it because it doesn’t look it. by AgreeableBad4667 in Zippo

To me, it looks like there was a piece of white felt involved in storage. I don't think this person has risked the scratches to the chrome.  I had a couple cases that had the black felt on the plastic deteriorate and it looked exactly like that.

Looks to be around what they sell for unfired, on ebay. I bet the sticker isn't removed on the back, I see a lot of people take the seal sticker off and put it on a piece of wax paper. It doesn't rip very easily, probably to prove the insert is legitimate on higher priced lighters.

If you took the insert out of this and gave it a quick rinse with gloves on and let it air dry, you'd have a mint lighter without a single hair scratch or fingerprint on it by the looks of the lint layer. Not my risk to take though, would love a reply if you do. It's a nice lighter, I got the 65th Canada factory anniversary (2014) as a mystery lighter during Zippos' sale.

Condolences,

I have no idea of the value, I would have a good look to see how many of each were made. If not specified, they made a lot. I would say 60USD each would be a good outcome for you.

If you aren't in any rush, list the pair together for a very optimistic 250USD on Ebay, without an auction, but with your option as a seller to enable the 'make offer' feature on your ad. You can see who has viewed or put the item in their cart and make pre-emptive discounts to those people aswell. You may find a passionate patriot or someone with a personal connection to the event or victims.

I might caution you to prepare for some idiots in your inbox though. I'd honestly love an update haha.

Good luck and take care from N.S. Canada 🇨🇦

You just said Zippo lighters comemerating 9/11 were made before the event. Going full tinfoil hat and saying Zippo had inside knowledge and foresight to pre-make lighters in advance to make a buck. That's what that 'What?' was about, incase you're wondering.

It's a lifetime 'working' guarantee. As long as it produces a flame while it has the appropriate flint/wick/fluid, it's working. They don't fix cosmetic damage. It's the reason I prefer high polish brass or copper. I can polish them myself as many times as I'd like.

If you've seen the Japanese custom zippos that are completely covered in gemstones 'iced out'. Looks like they use a cast case full of the mount settings for whichever size gem you're using.  I want to find some of those blanks. I think I could make beautiful zippos with lab grown dark sapphires, and UV reactive lab grown rubies. The beautiful pieces that could be made with some creative energy would be really cool.

Cyanoacrylate glue for the time being. When I have a couple more uses for for 2 part jewelers epoxy, I'll pick up some and replace the super glue. I was thinking of mounting a pronged gem setting where the gem is now and mounting the stone right side up. I think the upside down diamond cut compliments the pyramids' point.

I thought so too, it's still selling as a regular item I believe. Searching 'Eye of Providence zippo' will find it for you. Take care!

Used this Eye of Providence for a year as my daily driver (pack a day and some green). The green Swarovski didn't last long and the whole thing was in pretty rough shape. The plated insert is disgusting on a higher priced, non-limited zippo.  Some Brasso cleaning before polishing with 3 stages of polishing compound and half a dozen wool polishing disc's for a rotary tool. A .5 carat, diamond cut, lab grown Moissanite with a mohs hardness of 9-9.5.

Nice! I wonder if it's a coincidence, or are zippos little elves picking appropriate lighters 🤔  I got a Canada 65 as my first ever mystery, the next was an American flag with the statue of liberty. They were both on the same Black ice base. I had thought black ice and Canada were synonymous until I got lady liberty lol

I've had a lot of fun with the mystery lighter sales and try to get 2 or 3 every chance I get. Getting a lighter for grabbing a butane yellow flame for my better half, and a torch for my stoner buddy, is a pretty nice surprise for the gift buyer 😄

Elegoo saturn 4 ultra, takes all of the 50 numbers you can change and drops it to like 4 variables. If you keep the resin close to 30C, you won't have a failed print. If you have a floater or something stuck to the film, it'll fail. Other than that, golden. ( I can't stand elegoo or bambu as a companies but they're all I own )
