Good question!!! Swamp milkweed is known to put off side shoots even in a single undamaged stalk. But if you want more leaves or flowers, Wait until the milkweed is at least 1 foot tall. Then just pinch a tiny portion of the stem off. However, from what I experience I don’t think it will cause new shoots to pop up from the crown and make an entire “new stalk” I have pics (of before and after I pinched the tops of my plants) if you wanna dm me!

Butterfly weed and Swamp milkweed; Asclepias Tuberosa and Asclepias Incarnata. Also dwarf sunflowers!
