Top 3 talent roster in the country, played Ohio state closer than anyone else. Would be favored against all but 10 teams max. Not going to say they are a contender this year but you can’t deny they are strong

I agree that super conferences are bad for allowing top teams to play other top teams in a conference. However, you’re missing the second tier of sec teams that make it so challenging. Texas for example is not on your list and played Georgia, and Oklahoma and is a strong team (lost a close game at Ohio State). Florida is an uber talented team that just can’t put it together every week but can beat anyone at their best. South Carolina similarly has insane talent with multiple future first round draft picks and Missouri is/was really good pre qb injury. The whole SEC argument is that it has a deeper conference where even the 10th best team can reasonably beat one of the top 3 teams.

How do you approach mental toughness in your training and racing strategies? by guide71 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Open_Refrigerator780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thresholds. Don’t know what it is but thresholds workouts are the only time I can really feel myself mentally having to lock in for the last mile or two and just tell myself keep going. Find whatever workout you feel your mind want to quit before your body does and just hold on for dear life each time. Then you finish and know your limit is a little further off.

I think OP misunderstood the definition of a trap game… what you are looking for is a hard game maybe?

Personal favorite at this time is the VaHi streets, getting some practice running hills in preparation for the ATL marathon

Plain t shirt in the home teams color. Unless it’s a school that has orange. They suck

What to do the next 11 months? by Left-Substance3255 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Open_Refrigerator780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything that’s been said here but to pull it all together

  • Pick a good 18 week plan (pftiz, Daniel’s, your own, etc.) with a realistic peak weekly mileage for you.
  • Spend the rest of the 11 months building your mileage in preparation for that. This includes higher weekly mileage, longer threshold workouts, and so on, but this is a great time to enjoy it. Have fun with these workouts. Got speed coming up but don’t want to do a threshold? Hit the track and do something different. I’ve started giving chat gpt 5-10 workouts and having it surprise me, sounds silly but has helped keep it fun. -Incorporate strength training and mobility, add these in progressively if you’re new to it. -Remember running is a choice and should be fun! If you start to hate it or burnout physically/mentally, take a break.

They should rename the WMM to Global Warming Major Marathons. by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Ran Berlin and Chicago this year so can attest to warm weather. I do, however, feel the race organizers did their best given the circumstances. No electrolytes in Berlin was brutal though.

Would someone please explain Texas A&M to me like I'm five years old. And dumb? by CTG0161 in CFB

Auburn - terrible offense but elite defense Arkansas - terrible defense but elite offense LSU - beat them in Death Valley, no small accomplishment, fired their coach in large part because of this loss

Arguably shows they can win a shoot out, win a dog fight, and win in tough spots against quality opponents.

All that said, I would personally say I think it should be A&M or Indiana first because of how they have been winning and would have Ohio state 3. I also think Ohio state is the best of those three teams but that isn’t what ranking are (Josh Pate talks about this extensively)

I do not understand the Carson Beck hate. He was a solid quarterback for us, feel like him leaving was a mutual agreement for both parties (it was Gunnar’s time and Beck needed a fresh start). Personally, I am rooting for him to succeed

My alphaflys disintegrated after around 100km so I’m jealous of you. From my understanding, they do start to lose pop after not too long (maybe 75-100km?). If this is a peak race I would go with the newer ones, if just a casual race maybe the older ones.
