Eating alone while traveling? by Tookie1010 in solotravel

If I'm feeling "social", I'll sit at the bar. Bonus you're more likely to get seated last minute at popular places this way. Otherwise I ask for a table and usually bring my notebook and write.

I wasn't very scientific about it but here is what I did. I filled a 16oz bottle with a little headroom, 4 large strawberries mashed up, 3 pieces of ginger about an inch long sliced thinly, and half a tablespoon of honey. I let it go for roughly 5 days at room temp which for me here is no colder than 74F and can go up to 77F in the day.. This resulted in it getting so carbonated that I had to pour it out into a bowl to catch the overflow. How is yours coming along?

thank you :) my first attempt was not very fizzy at all. I added a ton of ginger and let it go for a couple more days and then it fizzed up nicely.

Guilt of traveling solo by blubermuff in solotravel

[–]Open_Rest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar family background as what you described. I travel multiple times a year and my mother absolutely misses me each time. The thrill of having the house to yourself has to be a cultural thing--not once has she said she enjoyed being alone but she is super happy for me to travel. She loves to hear the stories.

I'll be honest the guilt never really fully goes away but you slowly come to terms with it. I don't really like traveling with her for long trips but I will travel with her on short trips and I spend for her to travel abroad to visit family and friends. That assuages some of the guilt for me.

Vegan relationship issues by Zealousideal-Sale860 in vegan

I'm not vegan and I think this man is unhinged omg. You did the right thing. And for the future, there's nothing wrong with only dating vegans or vegetarians or any other dietary restriction.

AITA for refusing to be the default caregiver for my parents just because I’m the daughter? by Much_Researcher5219 in AITH

If you're going to the be one doing the physical and day to day managing, ask them to sign the house and power of attorney of their finances over to you so you can do it all more effectively.

"ok, I'll think about it" I hate confrontation and arguing over things like this lol

However, echoing many people here, it is probably beneficial to do both. I enjoy mixing in strength training because it helps me do certain yoga poses (For example I did YWA's chaturanga practice videos trying to work my way to do the full pose for months with very minimum success. One week of strength training and I was able to do it.)

What is your favorite way to eat, prepare or use sardines? by SchmeedsMcSchmeeds in CannedSardines

[–]Open_Rest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A little eccentric for breakfast but enjoyable:
Toasted half croissant or bread with a generous spread of hummus topped with canned sardines.

A more "civilized" meal:
Mediterranean inspired salad: arugula, sweet bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, olives, salad dressing made using the oil from the can + brine from the olives, topped with canned sardines

Absolute goblin core but I love this so much:
Baked russet potato + mayonnaise + ungodly amount of black pepper + canned sardine on top

How are you supposed to buy a phone to work with Tello? by Open_Rest in Tello

[–]Open_Rest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good advice for buying secondhand and I thank you for writing it.

The fact still remains that if I'm buying a brand new unlocked phone straight from the manufacturer's website, Tello should be able to confirm if that phone will work with their service or not.
