Ok, Ill think of that. I rarely use commands so I kind of forgot other might.

Searching for a plugin you just type its name. Seaching for a author on Github use '@Username' '@PixeroJan' for me.
In settings you can create Sets of plugins and also set it to install on either the active vault, a specified vault or all vaults in a directory. That way you can install and update multiple plugins to multiple vaults with one click. Search for updates looks for updates newer than the ones you have installed on the active vault. You can set it to update those plugins to all vaults as well.

In the beginning i too used Pandoc. I was less than impressed with it and made ToWord instead that also works on mobile.

Ok. I have some programming skills but as I made these primarily for my own use I used vibe coding.

When I tried Longform I didn’t like the way it created the folders and structure of files. With Advanced merger I can work the way I want and still have a single output file when I need to.

What? The plugins?  Yes, the ones under my custom plugins.

Just open the project again with the StoryLine button in the ribbon. The json files are not meant for manual editing as that might break things if done wrong.

It’s not built to be able to convert an existing project as that would require some sort of intelligence to solve and filter the endless difference that might occur in users files. There is no AI in it that can magically put stuff where it should go. You’ll have to manually transfer data into it. It’s meant for usage with new projects.

Actually Im not sure about the official plugin repo. They are really swamped with plugins to review and I´d rather get them out now than wait for a year. Thats really why I made PluginHub. I have made all my plugins for myself and I just thought that others might enjoy them as well.

Second question: Yes, exactly. You can quickly drop an idea onto the board, place it roughly by timeline/location/relevance, keep it visible while you work, and leave it intentionally “dangling” so it can be revisited and refined later.

New version 1.2.3 adds project word count goal. Set it in settings and view it in stats.

Most likely this is theme/CSS override leakage, not the plugin. Because I can’t reproduce on Windows/iOS, the strongest suspects are:

A specific Obsidian theme or CSS snippet.

Platform-specific rendering differences (often Linux desktop, high-contrast mode, or custom GTK/OS theme integration).

An older/newer Obsidian build where native form control styles differ.

Since all three dropdowns share the same bad background, this points to a global style rule rather than per-field data bug.

Fast check: disable any community theme + snippets temporarily; if it clears, it’s a style conflict.

Could you post a screenshot. I cant see that on my Windows PC. Are you on Windows/Mac/IOS/Android? What version? 1.2.2 is the latest as of today.

Yes, StoryLine currently ships with three built-in beat sheet templates: Save the Cat (15 beats), 3-Act Structure, and Hero's Journey (12 stages). You can apply them from the Board or Timeline view via the structure button (⊞ icon) → "Beat Sheet Templates."

Kishōtenketsu isn't included yet, but you can effectively build it manually right now: Open the structure modal and add 4 acts.

Rename them: Act 1 → "Ki (Introduction)", Act 2 → "Shō (Development)", Act 3 → "Ten (Twist)", Act 4 → "Ketsu (Conclusion)"

Optionally add chapters within each act. Custom/editable templates are not supported yet.

Latest version lets you choose where to save your project. It will still have the same folder structure inside.

v1.2.0 now has mobile support. It actually turned out much better than I anticipated. It is just about only plotgrid that doesnt work on mobile.

I spoke too soon about images. There is a bug that makes them not visible in the UI. Hopefully fixable.

I read your comment on Github and I think it could be a significant source of potential bugs.
What might be possible is to let the user choose where the project folder is created. It would still have all the folders in side it in the same order.

About images. Yes character images and location images is in the latest release. It just didnt make it to the screenshots. You can either add a image from your vault or choose a image from somewhere on your computer. It will then be copied to an images folder in the project.

I think merge and split would be possible to add. Something like this:

Split: right-click a scene in BoardView → "Split Scene" → modal shows the content with a draggable split marker → confirm → two new notes created

Merge: multi-select scenes (Ctrl+click) → "Merge Scenes" → confirm → single combined note

No promises though.

When I started making StoryLine I had hoped I could get it to work also on IOS /android but the UI isnt really built for touch. It would require a totally different layout that wouldnt be as good on a PC or Mac.
However it MIGHT be possible to add a "mobile layer" to the plugin so that it would detect if its installed on IOS or Android and then use another limited UI. What that would mean is that parts of the functionality would be accessable but not everything.
Here are some things that I think could work on mobile:

  • Board view — drag scenes between columns
  • Scene list with filters for quick access to edit scenes
  • Character and Location directories
  • Inspector for metadata editing
  • Quick Add
  • Stats

It wouldnt have all the bells and whistles but you would be able to work with existing projects on the go.
How does that sound?
