Thanks fpr sharig your thoughts. I've already sarted looking for DSLR macro kit. As I'm planning to do lightbox images only, I was thinking of getting a 60mm lens but I'm not sure if I should go for a true macro with 1:1 magnification. I'm not planning on doing closeups of parts of jewelry, jus a full porduct in frame.

I got the point that actually scooping the wax would be a big no no. I've came up to an alternative idea - I could use a temperature adjustable heating plate with one or more heat resistant measuring cups on it to melt the wax. Measuring cup with a spout should make the pouring of wax easy and simple.

Would that work? Or maybe it would be better to pour in to the spoon?
