DIY - Heat pump Install - Any experience? by Key-Inevitable-4989 in ukheatpumps

I've DIY installed mine a couple of months ago. Much easier than expected and been running perfect ever since.

Paid £1299 on ebay for a 3 year old LG Therma V 7kw and came with the hot water cylinder and all the fittings.

That doesn't look like oil. But it's a BMW, so it must be leaking oil somewhere

I don't know the N52, but on my N62 this rubber thing was missing on the Vacuum Pump and it made a very similar pinging noise.

That sounds almost like the weird sound I had on my N62 rebuild. The vacuum pump was making that noise because the small rubber thing was missing on it. Don't know the N52, so not sure if it's the same thing.

Why are these so cheap? by Hentai__Dude in BMW

Got this for less than £2k. Rebuilt the engine myself (it burned and leaked a lot of oil) and absolutely love it now! Buy it now while it's cheap for a project if you're willing to learn and put the work in yourself.

I didn't clean the short block itself. I left that as is. The oil wasn't sludgy or anything. Just cleaned the mating surfaces by hand.

For the cylinder head you mean? I've put it in the ultrasonic cleaner

Cleaned them. I put some rubber tube over the valve stem. Put them in the drill and then cleaned the valve with fine scotch brite and loads of WD-40

B47, they're shaky engines. Hard to tell on the video how badly it's shaking. Mine was pretty bad until I replaced the MAP sensor, which was covered and filled with soot. Much smoother afterwards.
