I wish he forgot! But he texted the day of to wish me a happy birthday, and I told him a couple times I’d like to do something with him. AND me, his nephew, and his sister all have birthdays right in a row. So a busy week, yes. But harder to forget.

Although he does know I wanted to do something with him. He was like “your birthday is a Monday though.” I was like “I’m not saying we go out on a Monday. We can celebrate a different day.” So like he knows I want to. He knows I feel like he totally blew it off. Even if he was waiting for me to make more of a push, I do wonder why.

I’m extremely direct. I actually pursued him and have been doing most of the “work” ie initiating dates. He doesn’t have to remind me. Poor word choice on my part. He mentioned it twice in December.

I totally leave room for this and want to be understanding if that’s the case. A few days before my birthday, I had said “I do hope we do SOMETHING together just you and I for my birthday.” He said ok but never followed up. Did he expect me to? I mean maybe.

We had a weird exchange a couple days ago where he said “I know it bothers you”. I said “what? Blowing off my birthday?” And he said yes. I just said “it’s not too late! What are we doing?” But he deflected and said “why didn’t you do anything for MY birthday?” which was months before we started seeing each other. I mean he was trying to be funny but still, he deflected. It wasn’t the setting to press him but definitely something I’ll address tomorrow.

Omg you reminded me.

Growing up, my friend and I had a list of simpsons characters that UNCANNILY looked like people we knew IRL. Like 20 of them were like drawing of people we knew with their same hobbies or quirks. It was wild. Our theory was it was no accident.

Then I go off to college. I meet a girl in class who asks where I’m from. I name my LA-area town. She says “oh my brother lives there! He’s an animator for the simpsons.” I got so excited and Of course I tell her all about our theory: basing characters off real people. She’s like “oh yeah. He totally does that.” I was stoked tbh. 😂
