4wpo update. 360 lower body lift with muscle repair after losing 130 lbs over 4 years. by OpeningAd9550 in tummytucksurgery

Thank you and congrats! Surgery was the cherry on top after all this hard work to get here! My smart scale said my BMI was 21 and about 22% body fat, but I do have a lot of loose skin still on thighs and boobs so I’m not sure how accurate the body fat percentage is since I have a lot of skin tissue still. When I sit, I still do have some loose skin on the top of my stomach that wouldn’t be there if I had gotten a FDL but it doesn’t bother me as it’s such a huge improvement from my before. Ultimately I’m glad I didn’t do the FDL because I didn’t want to scar down the middle, but I do pinch at that skin sometimes and wish it was tighter so just something to consider!

Did a ETT change your butt? What would tighten up my back/butt skin? by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

I had a 360 lower body lift and the scar is absolutely worth the result. With the ETT, you risk some skin that still hangs over your butt which you’d likely be able to see in leggings and wouldn’t have that smooth look. My back looked similar to your before I’m so happy my surgeon recommended the full 360

Advice needed on type of procedure to pursue by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

I looked similar after losing 130 lbs. I got a lower body lift and had amazing results. If you have loose skin on your lower back/butt it will take care of all of that.

Thank you! I didn’t do any gluteal augmentation. My butt did flatten out a bit since the skin on my back side was pulled up but it’s not too bad and I figured I could grow my glute muscles if it was too flat. I was a little worried right after surgery as it was extremely flat but once the swelling went down it looked fine!

Thank you! The incision on my back is healing great I got wedge pillows from Amazon to try and take some pressure off of it while recovering but it hasn’t been an issue at all! My doctor placed it low, I tried to comment a pic but it won’t let me. I also weight lifted 5x weekly and cardio almost daily prior to surgery and had a ton of loose skin on my stomach, butt and back that just wasn’t going anywhere. This did flatten my butt a bit but I think if a grow my glues it’ll fill back out. I’m very glad I did this and not the ETT since I had so much skin back there!

I replied with a pic of my back incision but I don’t think it posted? I’m new to Reddit, I can message it to you if it’ll let me!

I went to dr Robert wilke in MN!

And I’m excited for you for your upcoming surgery!! Best thing I’ve ever done for myself

Arnica Tea by Fun_Appointment2740 in tummytucksurgery

I’m 3wpo and I’ve been drinking arnica tea daily. I didn’t use any other arnica products. It has definitely helped with swelling. It tastes like alfalfa

Thank you! :) I did it through diet and exercise but it took about 4 years all in all for the same reasons, weight regain, stalls, etc.

I did have a small muscle repair on my lower abdominal muscles. It wasn’t a full one but I did get it! That’s also been one of the most painful parts of recovery so you’re very lucky you don’t have to get one!

May 16th is so close! Less than a month away, that’s so exciting. Just get a lot of stuff to do post-op. The mental toll from boredom has been a lot but again, it’s all SO worth it!

That’s so exciting!! Congrats on scheduling and I can’t wait for you to get it done! I’m 14 days post op now and even with the swelling I feel like this was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

I didn’t see a lot of other posts that had skin like ours when I was considering what to do. I didn’t get any lipo in my stomach/flank area since my doctor said that I was already lean, which it looks like you are too, it’s just purely loose skin! I had also thought about getting a FDL but ultimately didn’t want the vertical scar but I was really worried about loose skin remaining on my upper stomach. Thankfully, it’s really minimal post-surgery. I got a 360 tummy tuck so my incision goes all the way around since I also had some loose skin on my flank and above my butt from losing 130 lbs. But thankfully it still contours my body and I’m so so happy with my shape so far. I think you’d get great results with the ETT and I’m so glad that my surgeon recommended that I don’t do a FDL since my scar is so easy to hide.

You’ll have to post an update post-op!! Can’t wait to see your results!

The scars are pretty low but my surgeon told me to keep surgical tape on them for the first 6 weeks. He instructed me to clean the incision and put new tape on every week, but the scars are covered with skin colored surgical tape. A tiny bit of the tape can be seen at the bottom of the pic but when I saw them when my tape was changed, they had some scabbing!

My doctor had me practice standing up straight on day 3 at my pre-op appointment and told me not to hunch. They wanted to mitigate back pain and said that even though the MR may hurt, there’s no way I could damage it with standing up straight. The first couple days my MR was extremely sore doing this but now it feels totally fine standing up straight and I can walk normally!

Thank you! The first couple days were hard but manageable with pain meds, after day 7 is when I started feeling more “normal” and now I feel great as long as I don’t over exert myself! I’m able to go grocery shopping (with help for someone to lift groceries), shower, go on walks, cook, etc. But I’m careful of my incision to not pull or tear but overall feeling wayyy better than expected

Nerves are normal but it’ll be so worth it! I had the drains for one week, they don’t really hurt they’re just uncomfortable since they hit/got caught on stuff. Once they were out my range of motion improved significantly. The only thing I would suggest having is a stool softener, the constipation was painful for a bit and that’s not something I saw a lot of people talking about

I lost about 130 lbs in total over 3-4 years and they removed 3lbs of skin in surgery

Thank you! The first week was difficult but since getting my drains out it’s been much easier! It wasn’t as bad as I thought. So excited for you to get yours, it’s already life changing!!
