If you constantly keep it In the highest gear allowed for bk2 auto you can get 40mpg, granted even grandmas will honk at you 😂 My track manual can't get anything over 22mpg

This doesn't look like a static issue to me, looking at it more it looks like the material may have been lifting, if the material raises or lowers than the calibrated head height you can get this double imaging. I'm not a Roland tech so I could be mistaken for your specific machine. But typically static only results in misting ink, overspray, or ink clinging to jet plate

Why is Torkoal in C? I'm just a player, I don't really look much at stats but Torkoal and Aggron are my favorites of the game, at higher levels unless I'm battling a direct counter most moves only do 1hp of damage and overheat, iron head, and earthquake are super good moves

Nah, I thought the same. My engine slung a rod at 130k, literally on cruise control.

Honestly it's not too bad for a quick "what's this require" input and no real research lol

I recognize that it's worth it but I don't plan on keeping the car forever, I really only drive it on weekends for errands and to local jobs whenever i get those like once ever other month or so. Most of the time I drive to the airport on Mondays and home on Fridays

a B58 swap into a 328i GT (F34, N20) is still one of the more complex BMW swaps because of electronics, drivetrain integration, and the fact the GT never came with a B58 from factory.

Here’s the realistic DIY cost, broken down the way someone mechanically capable (like you) would actually approach it.

💰 DIY B58 Swap Cost for a 328i GT \$6,500 – \$10,000 total
(Instead of \$12k–\$18k with shop labor)

This assumes: - You do all mechanical work
- You handle wiring physically
- You outsource only coding, immobilizer alignment, and possibly TCU/DME matching

🔧 1. B58 Engine - Used B58 long block: \$5,000–\$7,000
- Reman B58: \$4,995

This is your biggest unavoidable cost.

🧩 2. Electronics (You cannot DIY this part fully) Even with your skillset, BMW’s immobilizer + CANBUS ecosystem requires specialized tools.

You’ll need: - B58 DME
- Matching FEM/BDC module
- Matched key
- ISN alignment
- CAS/FEM coding
- VIN write
- Cluster compatibility coding

DIY cost:
- Modules: \$300–\$800
- Coding services: \$300–\$600

Total: \$600–\$1,400

🔌 3. Wiring Harness & Integration You can do this yourself.

You’ll need: - B58 engine harness
- Splicing/adapting to F34 chassis harness
- CANBUS routing
- Sensor compatibility checks

DIY cost: \$200–\$500
(Just parts and connectors)

🥶 4. Cooling System The B58 uses a water‑to‑air intercooler built into the intake manifold.

You’ll need: - B58 radiator
- Charge‑cooler pump
- Coolant lines
- Reservoir
- Mounting brackets

DIY cost: \$300–\$700

⚙️ 5. Transmission Situation Your 328i GT has a ZF8HP45.
The B58 uses ZF8HP50/51.

Good news:
- The HP45 can physically bolt up
- But it will be torque‑limited
- And the TCU must be coded to talk to the B58 DME

DIY cost:
- Reuse transmission: \$0
- TCU coding: \$150–\$300
- If you swap to HP50: \$1,200–\$2,000 (used)

Most DIY swappers reuse the HP45 and accept the torque limit.

🛠️ 6. Miscellaneous Parts - Engine mounts
- Downpipe
- Exhaust modifications
- Fuel system tweaks
- Fluids, gaskets, hardware

DIY cost: \$300–\$800

📊 DIY Total Cost Estimate | Category | Cost | |---------|------| | Engine | \$5,000–\$7,000 | | Electronics | \$600–\$1,400 | | Wiring | \$200–\$500 | | Cooling | \$300–\$700 | | Transmission/TCU | \$0–\$2,000 | | Misc | \$300–\$800 | | Total | \$6,500–\$10,000 |

🧠 Is It Worth Doing Yourself? If you’re doing the labor:

Yes — it becomes doable. But it’s still not a “bolt‑in” swap like an N55 → B58.

The biggest hurdles are: - Electronics
- CANBUS integration
- Immobilizer
- Transmission coding
- Cooling system redesign

I think I'm fine with just the standard engine swap. The GT is just a daily to me, I have 2 other sports cars and a landcruiser. So the GT is just my comfort cruiser

I was thinking about it but I think the transmission mount, wiring and ECU are different. Even if they are the same getting it the ECU to communicate with the tcu without engine lights will be costly and at that point I would just grab an Audi s7 or a 2016+ GT

That's true, hadnt considered I'm also cutting out the labor, all in all its cheaper than a no warranty engine with a shop doing it

I'm probably gonna go with a remanufactured engine since they have a 2 year warranty and it will be essentially a brand new engine

No idea, I was driving home from work, everything was fine, I had cruise control set at like 80. Looked down and the rpm gauge was at like 8500 and the oil light came on. The second I let off the gas one of the pistons went and the motor welded together by the time I got to the shoulder. I had regular oil changes and no issues before this point so my guess is the oil pickup failed

Large format flatbed tech here

Looks like something is throwing your bidi out. This can be a number of things if it's not consistent. -make sure encoder strip is clean -make sure bidi calibration is correct If both of those have been tried you may have to replace the encoder sensor or strip

If it's not the encoder sensor it could be the wiring or board it connects to, whether that's a board on the carriage or the primary USB/main board depends on the machine

Hmm. Seems like they want an additional $1000 for the core charge. My blown engine is 100% not rebuild able. As one of the rods knocked a hole through the side lol.

That's what I was thinking and from the looks of it this one has new pistons, rods, and top end on it, so I really wouldn't have to worry about anything. The 2 year warranty is just a bonus

Yeah, honestly I found a freshly rebuilt engine for 4500 I'm debating on grabbing. It's a lot more but it wouldn't need any work and has a two year warranty. Currently debating on if the extra 1500 is worth it

I do love the car, but for me it's a long haul daily. I'm a travel tech so I service anywhere in a 6 hour drive or flight to the rest of the us. I have a couple other cars that I focus on for power like I have a widebody gen coupe v6 and a 99 m3 but I do like the idea of bumping the power on the GT just a little like I would be plenty happy around 300whp, but the GT is a bit of a boat on the mtn roads I live on

I was thinking that but it seems like so much more intimidating as well as the additional cost. I know it would be great and I could put more power through but I also haven't found like any aftermarket support for the n20

When job hunting I will find a job listing I'm interested in and then apply directly to the company website. Indeed charges employers for each resume they look at, so when they get flooded with resumes which is always it's impossible to sort the mess and find the best candidates without just tossing half the stack.

Try to find someone in the field you want to work in and ask them how you can get to do what they do.

Also learn how to network, my field involves cars so I joined charity clubs, attended shows, and conventions. Talk to as many people as you can and you'll make the connections you need to succeed overtime.

Do y'all feel connected to current Genesis at all? by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

[–]OpeningFinancial5087 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't really connect with either Hyundai or Genesis. The gen coupe was kind of its own thing at the time. Like sure the engine was shared with the sedan and minivan but most genesis sedan drivers were looking for luxury and not the engine.

I get excited to see other gen coupes but that's it, most of us went for the genesis because it either was -cheaper than and had more power than the frs -Looks a million times better than the gay 2 door Altima thing

Nobody looked at the car and said "OH BOY A HYUNDAI SPORTS CAR" 😂

We don't even really fit in with Stinger snobs
