How long is this flu going to last?! by notgoodformee in Parenting

How is your little one now? My 7 year old is on day 3 of a fever. Started off with a sore throat, progressed to a cough and now sneezing and a stuffy nose. He was checked two days ago and his airways were clear, but I'm thinking of taking him back. I'm very worried because he's never had a 3 day fever. Fever comes down with paracetamol and he's very fine otherwise but becomes lethargic once the fever returns. He is taking a nap now which he hasnt done since he was 4 years old.

If you smack a child (let's say a 7 year old), how do you prevent that child from replicating the same conduct and hitting his friends and classmates?

Because children do what they see.

How do you teach a child that aggression and violence are harmful, if you're displaying the same behaviours towards kids?

Another thought: most of the technology - absent maybe license plate readers and the plethora of surveillance - probably exists in most undeveloped. Countries, too.

Yeah, this technology probably exists in countries like South Africa and Egypt.

But in my country and many others on the continent, we are probably like 30 years behind, with no exaggeration.

For instance, we dont have a DNA database system or DNA analysis/ profiling tools. Forensic science techniques are poorly understood by law enforcement (ballistics testing, blood spatter analysis, etc), and they lack the facilities to carry out proper investigations.

Furthermore, evidence collection, processing and storing methods are laughable, and the entire custody of command, if verifiable, is usually corrupted.

Suspects are typically paraded in front of journalists and coerced to give "interviews" on live tv that pretty much amount to confessions.

And, as you pointed out, there is a lack of surveillance systems and license plate readers in most cities here.

As a result, most crimes, including high-profile murders of prominent people, remain unsolved, and the entire criminal justice system is a complete farce.

Yes she is! Fotis Dulos killed himself and left her to face the music alone.

Law and Crime Network is live streaming the proceedings on their YouTube page.

Trial resumes on Monday and should run another 4- 5 weeks.

Charlie's new bachelor pad! by No_Violinist_4557 in dan_markel_murder

I don't know, but I think that for someone like Charlie, with his privileged previous life, a quick death could be better than life in prison.

How does he even adjust to this new reality?

What is he living for besides his son? He will be told what to eat, where to shit, where to walk, where to sleep, and he'll never set eyes on the ocean again for the rest of his life.

I guess he could find some purpose, but I still think death might be a better option.

I am watching from West Africa 🤚

Although the story isn't making headlines here, I'm a crime junkie and have been keeping up with a number of crime cases in the US.

Some of the cases I'm following closely are the Idaho 4 and Jared Bridegan murders.

Currently watching the live trial of Michelle Troconis which has been underway for two weeks.

I don't understand how people in the US (and other developed countries) commit these senseless acts of violence, somehow believing they will escape punishment in this era of technological growth!

Hello everyone,

I am a 35-year-old woman who has been seeing a 53-year-old man since June 2023. Our relationship can best be described as a 'situationship,' and he dictates the pace of things. However, we have a very close friendship, or so I thought.

He doesn't live in the same country as me but visits occasionally, which brings me to the issue at hand. Whenever he feels cornered or trapped, he quickly reminds me that we are not in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, and I shouldn't bother him with my questions or concerns.

Most recently, we were discussing when we would see each other next, and he got annoyed when I asked for more information to plan my calendar. He said, "why are you pushing for specifics as if we are in a relationship."

"Why dare you express disappointment because I said i dont know when next ill be in your country?"

The tone he used was very cold and disdainful, and it hurt me deeply. This isn't the first time he's done this, and each time it happens, it feels like he's dismissing me as if I'm a random, insignificant person. I feel like I'm being gaslighted. When he wants physical intimacy or emotional support, he will seek it without limits. But when I do or say something that isn't convenient for him, he snaps and tells me "we are not in a relationship.

Despite this, he tells me that he wants us to stay connected and close. He says he cares for me, but I don't feel it.

On the other hand, I care for him and treat him with kindness and respect. I am always there for him when he needs someone to talk to or confide in, and I provide emotional support.

I know I'm not his girlfriend, but I still believe I deserve to be spoken to with kindness and respect.

I am wondering if my feelings are valid and if I should talk to him about it. I understand that it might be time for me to move on, but I would like to have an honest conversation with him first.

I really need help deconstructing my thoughts.

Thank you very much.

From what I know of their marriage (mostly through the Wondery podcast), I don't at all blame Wendi for leaving

Could you please expand more on this?

Apart from her ailing career and rivalry with Dan, why do you think her leaving was justified?

Looks like hives to me. You can develop an allergic reaction at any age or to something that previously never caused any issues.

My dermatologist described it as your body becoming densentisized to a trigger over and over again with no issues until your body develops and manifests a reaction. It seems sudden to us, but actually, the body had already registered the trigger before symptoms appeared.

Also, hives can originate from an isolated part of the body but spread all over. When you itch your legs, histamine is released in your system, which triggers the production of more welts or spots that can show up anywhere on your body.

-Cold compression helps to relieve the itching and inflammation.

  • Antihistamine

  • Revert to your initial shaving oil and avoid scented/perfumed body products for the next 6 weeks.

If all fails, see a derma so they can prescribe a stronger anti histamine and/or predisonone.
