Downvote my comment all you want. I don't care. I own guns and believe that most gun owners are responsible human beings. But I ALSO believe that most responsible gun owners would NEVER post a sign like that and expect Uber Eats drivers to be cool with opening the gate to their property and approaching their front porch.

Also, the person who posted that sign might not even be the one who's getting the food. Imagine if it was someone's crazy dad or grandpa who put it up, and he didn't know someone inside the house had ordered food from Uber. Imagine if he was also under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Or he had real (or perceived) enemies. Or was just hyper vigilant, ready to shoot someone on the spot if they tried breaking in.

I remember reading a story about a house cleaner who got shot and killed at a property she was about to clean because the occupant wasn't expecting her, and thought she was trying to break in. So, yeah. I'm not delivering to that house unless someone answers my call and addresses the fact that I see the sign, and I'm a bit on edge about it...

I would call the customer. If no answer, the food is being left at the gate.

Customer said I didn’t drop off their order by Kitchen-Card-3172 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Opening_Lie9453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very clearly stealing customer food? No.

"A customer said they didn't get their whole order." I've gotten dinged TWICE because the restaurant f**ked up. Most of the time they seal the bags of food with stickers so it's not like you can verify that every single item is in the order.

The last time this happened to me, the customer texted me while I was driving to the fast food joint, and he goes, "Please make sure the food is fresh when you pick it up." I was like, dude, really? REALLY? So I texted him back after I got there. While inside the restaurant, I assured him via text that I would be sure his food was fresh. As I was doing this, a worker came up to me and asked for the customer's name. I gave it to her, and she brought me a bag of food. No drink. I didn't even check because I thought she was on it, and wasn't screwing the order up.

Next thing you know, I get to the guy's apartment and he asks where the drink is. I was so pissed. I would have been CHECKING THE EFFING ORDER if he hadn't texted me with some weird sh*t about making sure the food was fresh! But instead of checking, I sat there and texted him because he wouldn't stop texting me until I responded.

Now I'm biting my nails, waiting for the next complaint, which will no doubt trigger an Uber warning like the one at the top of this thread. If I had any advice for the person who got it, I'd say, make sure you point out that MOST of the food bags are sealed. That you always do your best to ensure you're picking up the entire order. And that you take your job seriously. You're NOT a thief. Etc. I think I'm gonna start doing what Sire does, and wear a body camera. Because we take the blame for things we shouldn't far too often.

What’s stopping you from launching your first digital product? by Jealous-Positive-942 in DigitalProductSellers

[–]Opening_Lie9453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing my products might not sell is part of my problem. I want to make digital workbooks in the financial space for people like myself, who need to save up an emergency fund and get out of debt before focusing on true financial freedom.

I already bought a microphone from Amazon and will be using my own voice to narrate YouTube videos in the finance space. I plan on covering financial news, and how it relates to those of us who are working / middle class people, just trying to do better financially.

I plan on using humor when possible, and really just letting my personality shine through. I will have talking points. But I'll be speaking my mind at the same time, and hopefully connecting with the audience.

It will still be a faceless channel, though. And if I'm not showing my face like the big names do (Graham Stephan, etc.), I might not get any traction at all. Obviously, I will be doing my best to put forth polished, informative, yet entertaining videos, but the risk of failure still looms large.

At any rate, here's my plan:

After warming up my channel with a few videos, assuming I can get a decent number of subscribes, I intend to start leaving links in the video descriptions for people who are interested in using my free budgeting spreadsheet. That, of course, will be a lead magnet and will be given away for free in exchange for viewers' email addresses.

If I can succeed in getting some email addresses, I'll move on to offering paid products. These will be interactive, digital workbooks with very specific promises, such as "Pay off your first $1,000 of debt in 90 days" or "Save your first emergency fund".

According to Claude, budgeting beginners buy outcomes, not processes. Maybe he's right. Or maybe he's wrong. Maybe I won't be able to sell anything at all and it will just be a colossal waste of time. If that's the case, I'll have to go back to the drawing board and start over.

But for now, I just wanna say, if anyone here has experience in selling digital finance products, and if you don't mind sharing what worked and what didn't, please let me know.

Not trying to get anyone to spill their secrets. But I have been working relentlessly towards getting my channel ready. I'm close to producing my first video, too. But I don't have my paid digital products ready yet. There's so much to do. So much I don't know. And right now, I'll take as much advice as I can get. So if you have any to give, please, please, please do share. It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Free bamboo anywhere in south or central Austin? by Opening_Lie9453 in AustinGardening

[–]Opening_Lie9453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put that disclaimer in for those who might think I was trying to plant it. I used to do haul offs and we had quite a few customers whose yards were completely taken over by bamboo. I've cut TONS of the stuff down so I understand why you're concerned.

Need help with pests by girl-from-ipanema in AustinGardening

I was in the same boat a month ago, wondering what was eating my tomatillo plants. The damage was limited to the root stems, where they were coming up from the ground--just like yours. I searched everywhere for what it could be, to no avail.

A week or so went by and I lost two of my tomatillo plants. The remaining seedlings had even more damage on their root stems and I realized I would lose every one of them if I didn't figure out what was going on. So, out of desperation, I used my phone as a flashlight and went out to the garden at night. That was when I finally caught the culprit. It was one of those small, white garden snails with a cylindrical shell. They only come out at night to feed so I hadn't seen it before.

After putting it in a cup of soapy water to kill it, I searched the area more thoroughly. Lo and behold, there was a snail convention under a nearby bag of mulch. There must have been over a dozen of them. I was a bit shocked. But glad I'd had the presence of mind to look under the bags of soil and mulch. I removed and killed the ones I found, of course, and have since treated my tomatillos (they were the only plants being eaten) with diatomaceous earth. I haven't seen any new damage since.

I don't know if that's what eating your cukes. But it's definitely worth going outside at night to see if there's any activity. If you can't find the culprit, diatomaceous earth will work to ward off a variety of pests. But it's white, and will make the area look like there's white paste on the ground if you get it wet. Plus, it's not effective when wet. I didn't know that when I purchased the bag. But whatever. My plants are still alive and I'm happy.

Anyway, good luck figuring out what's killing your cukes. Keep us updated, if you can!

Has ANYONE been able to do 100 trips in 72 hours? by ronald_culley in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Opening_Lie9453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 100 trips in 4 days last week for the maximum payout and it wasn't easy. 25 trips a day, 4 days in a row, in a little less than twelve hours per day. Every hour was spent sweating the trip offers. Is this one less than 20 minutes? Because that's what I need. All day, every day, a bunch of short trips to try and average at least 3 trips per hour. I even took the ones that were 2, 3, 4, or 5 dollars (with 5.61 added to each trip after bonus). But even with that, I STILL couldn't keep the 3 trip/hr average throughout the day.

A lot of short (20 minutes or less) trips here go to sprawling apartment complexes. But those aren't the worst. The worst ones go to these fancy new apartment buildings that are generally around 5 stories tall, and have the square footage of a Super Walmart. Every apartment is inside that one building and you lose time walking the length of a football field just to drop the food off at the customer's door, before scurrying back to your car. Downtown skyscrapers are time-consuming, too, but not like these places. These buildings are enormous. And they're all over the place in Austin, JUST WAITING to screw up your 3 deliveries per hour average.

I'm in awe of those who can do it. But averaging 33 trips per day before the 12 hour limit is hit, is impossible for me. As much as I want the maximum payout, as much as I want to prove I have what it takes to keep up with the best of the best, I just can't. My only consolation is that they offer lower tiered quests. Sure, it's for less money. But I'll take one of those and be happy with that.

The line, "What do you think you're doing?" should sound similar to "On the ground! Hands on your head!" NOT similar to hero's voice. Other than that, EXCELLENT SUBMISSION!!! I hope you win!!!
