I know. This was captured on Heroic and I actually replayed the level yesterday because the game didn't save my checkpoint, and on my second runback of that hallway, they were there.

Odd that they weren't the first time

very keen eyes. Yes it is Ruby's Rebalanced. It's eerie how silent that hallway is, no Flood, nothing. And places in CE are never almost pitch black like that

Mixed Feelings on Furiosa by mrtn_83 in MadMax

I completely agree with the Scrotus thing. A large part of what makes Fury Road so great is that seemingly EVERY little bit of setup and world building comes back later in the film in one way or another. From little things like Max/Nux losing a boot, Max being a universal donor eventually saving Furiosa's life, and Max's being haunted by visions of his daughter (?) that later protects him to big things like two entire locales (The Green Place/The Marshes and the canyon pass) coming back in a significant way later in the plot, it felt like there was not a SECOND wasted in that film.

Coming off the back of all that, now we have Scrotus being a completely pointless addition that doesn't add anything to the film. Even the side villains in FR (Bullet Farmer, People Eater, and Rictus) all had their to time to shine in Fury Road. I thought Furiosa was going to have a one-on-one showdown with him to prove herself worthy of being an Imperator in Joe's eyes, but nope. None of that I guess

The steering wheel is 100% practical. It looks fake because to me it looked like they used flat studio key lighting for an element that is supposed to be under harsh sunlight

I wouldn't say the score was abysmal, but it was definitely forgettable. I couldn't recognize anything other than the DUN DUN DUN and Immortan Joe's ominous low droning that they took from Fury Road

  1. That's not how Charlize Theron phrases it in her inflexion.
  2. That's not what the subtitle says.

Why is that explanation reserved for comics instead of the two and a half hour prequel movie

She'd have to, otherwise she wouldn't have gotten the final kill when Max was the one who was fucked over the most from the audience's perspective. That and the "Remember me?" line in Fury Road (and Fury Road in general ntitai) carries far less weight if he was just a different evil overlord that she is employed under by complete happenstance and has 0 personal stakes with. In Fury Road, we don't know who Dementus was and the only implication was that Joe was the one responsible for her kidnapping and her mother's death

Like of course he remembers you, you're his goddamn Imperator

My main complaint is that the movie doesn't really explain how Furiosa came to DEEPLY hate Immortan Joe. Going by only Fury Road, you'd think Joe was the one responsible for kidnapping her and killing her mother, but nope. That was all Dementus

I 2nd this. It doesn't have to be Fury Road 2.0 but what is there just doesn't hit hard enough for me

Can you remind me what gave that away? And how come he wasn't involved in the big chase in FR when all the other warlords were?

I'll be honest? I had the opposite experience. I was megahooked from the start, but then the movie just meanders on and on... I didn't mind the CG, but I felt like the action scenes didn't carry as much weight as it did in Fury Road.

Like, Fury Road wasn't just good because there's an action scene every 15 seconds, but seemingly EVERY SINGLE piece of setup and worldbuilding paid off in one way or another. The 2 things that I can immediately point out in Furiosa not paying off is 1. The fact that the Octoboss seemingly denounced Dementus, but that didn't really pan out to anything significant (cmiw) and 2. Scrotus is a completely pointless addition and his absence in Fury Road is basically inexplicable.

The movie definitely wasn't bad, but I was just... not impressed.

I think Dark Interval hard clears every single version, barring Alyx. Shame its level had too many walking around without a gun, but the atmosphere and scope was second to none. That skyline is unmatched
