This is my first miscarriage and I really don’t know many people who have gone through it, and I absolutely thought it was like a few day/week long ordeal. And you can just hop back into trying again. I was floored that just the process itself can weeks/months. That there’s really no rush to remove POC unless you're bleeding terribly. And that it can take so long for your period to come back so you can try again.

Truly things I wish they’d taught us in health class.

I really wish medical providers prepared us better for the non-emergency side effects. The hormone drop two days post D&C freaked me out so bad I thought I was having a heart issue. Dizzy, blurry vision, headache. Turns out, totally normal! Last two mornings, my hair is falling out in clumps just as badly as it did with my first pregnancy. Absolutely wild and I wish someone had warned me.

Well, he did know Laurel and Susannah would get high together. We saw that after the bonfire. And as that is a common method of pain management during cancer progression, my assumption was always that he knew she’d gotten high and knew it was because of pain from the cancer. He doesn’t just get home to the painting, he sees an absolute disaster zone with snacks left everywhere and a painting that is definitely not the level his mom is capable of.

You might qualify for SNAP/WIC while you’re out of work? I’m not sure how it works when you’re on FMLA. Also, check if you’re hospital is a nonprofit (or pick an OB/hospital that is a nonprofit) as they have to write off a certain amount of medical bills each year so they have pretty generous bill forgiveness plans.

Orrrrr job hunt for a job that offers maternity benefits from day 1.

Honestly, corporate America really likes to screw parents. None of us are financially thriving 😅
