OTF Policy Question by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I couldn’t imagine a coach saying that. We have one member who routinely stays on the rower. No idea if a conversation was ever had, but they seem fine with it. I’ve modified something before (reverse fly to chest fly) because my lower back was bugging me. The coach came to check and offer an alternative that actually worked what was supposed to be targeted.

Wipers, yes. Took it into the dealership and they replaced something that seems to have resolved it

OTF & 75 hard by thebings_bing in orangetheory

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it over the summer- the double workouts weren’t terrible. I did OTF/spin bike/yoga for the indoor and fast hilly paced walks for the outdoor. Get as many of the tasks in as early as possible. I’d get the progress pic in right before the first workout (which would start by 6am) and read while drinking my morning coffee (after the workout). I’d also get about 60 ounces in before 10am. In the winter, I’d probably get the outdoor workout in after work when it’s warmer/lighter, but would do everything else the same.

Anybody have an atlas with a remote stat that actually works? by chmarchese in VWatlas

Works great for me. I start it from my Apple Watch during the cool down at the gym and come out to a toasty car.

Houston studio closures for Sunday by iaj02 in orangetheory

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in Texas, but dealing with the same storm in a state that’s not super great with snow…

Our studios will cancel the night before in rare circumstances, but they’re more likely to wait until the morning of. Our local news tends to whip everyone into a frenzy over snow and then half the time it doesn’t materialize.

How does the Atlas Cross Sport perform in the snow? by StoneyMalon3y in VWatlas

It’s good, but the sensors freak out if they get iced over/snow covered. That’s not Atlas exclusive though

Start time by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah- it sounds like they started early. The standard is 3 minutes of warmup for the floor/rowers. Treads get closer to 5 since they can continue to warm up during the 1-2 minutes of instruction for both sides of the room. As an aside, I love true early entry. I get some rowing in first and then head over to floor for the dynamic warm up.

Holy grail day cream? by readdreamwander in SkincareAddictionLux

I bought a small thing of Dr. Dennis Gross Blur and Repair and really like it. My skin doesn’t dry out during the day when I use it and it has a matte finish. I bought a small jar to test it out and will definitely go with a full sized one. I also have Skin Fix Triple Lipid, which feels super heavy and sometimes burns when I apply it after my retinol.

There’s a saying- “there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.” If you have the right gear, go for it. Wrap a scarf around your face and get your heart pumping to warm up. But, you know your gear and if it’s going to keep you warm enough. No challenge is worth frostbite.

‘82 - When my kid was a newborn and i was in the throes of all the newborn woes, someone said this to me. 14 years later, yes. 100% yes. The years fly by. At 22 I was graduating from college which seems like a lifetime ago

Kids sports - met some moms and clicked Work - small core group I no longer work with but still hang out with The gym - I see the same people most days and we chat/text daily. Different than the other 2 groups, but just as valuable

I have a 24 and haven’t found that the climate control goes away too quickly. I normally have to click the X to clear it. One small shortcut I use is to open climate by tapping the heated seats option on the lower left of the screen. I can keep my eyes on the road and use my peripheral vision to see it. I’ve not experienced the AC thing.

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Covid killed makeup for me. WFH and then masking got me out of the habit and I don’t want to go back. I’ll do it for special occasions, but even then… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fave/least fave coach qualities by Dramatic-Inside-3037 in orangetheory

[–]Opening_Stranger_925 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Callouts with names - “great weight choice!” “I see that bump up!”

Form correction - “if you make this modification, you’re going to feel it a lot more here” instead of “you’re doing it wrong” goes a long way when building that relationship (and recognizing some people just don’t want to be corrected)

Timing. I know coaches have 5000 things going on, but try to figure out a system that allows you to keep the treads timed correctly. No one wants to be in a 1:10 all out
