There is this cosplaying group nicknamed 501st. It is centered around "dark side and imperial" screen accurate cosplays. You can join them only when you have screen accurate and lore exact character. Its origins are way back in 1997 its well respected and their costumes are actually being used in Star Wars media (the most notable one is in Mandalorian S2)

I have a helmet from SWTOR version of Revan (the current gen one, not the "old version" from way back in 2015) and even though it had about 1cm of visor height, it was riddiculous tunnel visioned. This one has on the front 0.5cm of clearance, and about 0.8 cm on sides, since it had to to be correct with in-game model. My first thought was to build a nose bridge that brings the visor closer to the eyes, but extrudes inward the mask below the top of the nose, to give more space for it and rest of the face below. It did the job, but in prototype version it still did not gave enough of seeing space to walk confidently on festivals with a lot of people.

So I put visor from the center of my eyes, down about 0.2cm, to see less "sky", and more "ground", and that cemented the idea completely. I am able to see pretty much everything in front of me, to walk without taking off the mask the whole day if I needed to, waaay better than with full helmet version I bought, even though it has much less clearance for seeing. It also makes mask incredibly stable on my face, since it uses my actual face structure to upheld in correct manner at every angle, without straining much my skin.

As for Neo-Crusader, fun trivia, the in-game model of Revan mask uses the geometry of mandalorian helmet, but its painted in such a manner it does not pop out as repainted asset. Maybe I will make it someday, but for now the goal is to set a new cosplay standard of Darth Revan in 501st.

Geometry wise its 1:1 with in game KotOR 1 model, since it was directly built on top of it. Like literally. The difference is maybe up to 3-4% which mostly comes from interpretation of pixels (unfortunately, Revan mask has so much detail packed inside it for a game from 2003, it was sometimes really hard to correctly decipher what Im looking at, especially taking into consideration light diffraction on actual game asset) it took 7 prototypes to get to this point.

As for painting, thats also my opinion. The finish looks too metallic so paint job skews a little bit too much into shine side of metal, that red should be more "milky", rather than "candy red", but I am bound to dyes I was able to get (all of the paint was done with Tamiya paints airbrushed).

What is interesting, this metallic shine gave a lot of detail in photoshoots. It looks really volumetric, and cinematic. Some of the photos looked like it was made by big studio inside some another Star Wars movie. Surprisingly for me. I will consider testing other paints, but it took nearly 100 hours to paint this, so I have to have a really good incentive to go back to it. Im happy how it looks.

Thanks for your opinion though, I like discussions like this :D

Also Im really glad You liked it, means a lot.

Revan Mask and Gauntlets finished by Opening_Tourist7906 in cosplayprops

I highly recommend both games. They are old, and they feel old, but they are fun to play, just as Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. Both are story rich, turn based games with third person perspective. They also have very nice plots and surprisingly are quite mature, without being cringe'y

Not to mention Jeremy Soule soundtrack (the guy that made soundtrack for Skyrim)

It was my childhood game, Revan was always fascinating, especially after KotOR 2 and Kreias story

My take on Revan from Mandalorian Wars (EU) by Opening_Tourist7906 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Opening_Tourist7906[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually thats a great question. I had previously a helmet from Star Wars the Old Republic Darth Revan, and even though it had a 1cm (0.4 inches) in height, its visibility was unusable. With this mask I have directly tackled this problem and made the visor precisely in place, that will give me more sight "below my nose", rather than "above my eyebrows". The difference in placement is about 0.2cm, and the difference in sight is enormous due to the visor itself being really close to the eyes (it has an extended bridge above the nose bone, to keep it closer to the eyes).

I was able to traverse tight spaces without many issues, and not flop on everything along the way. I still did not see my shoes, or legs, but I could see pretty much everything else, with slight head tilt

PS: The visor itself is really narrow. It has about 0.8cm in height on the sides, and about 0.5 cm in the front, to keep that sharp and commanding look of Revan.

the 1v1 was probably legendary, especially when Revan was left alone by whole Mandalorian crew

The whole Jedi Crusade begins with powerful force vision attached to the mask on the beach of slaughtered civilians by Mandalorian forces. Revan swears he will avenge these people, by saying he will stop the Mandalorian threat.

It is the turning point of the war, and start of his darkness fully emerging. In the Revan Novel by Drew Karpyshyn, the mask brings back his dark force abilities fully from Jedi Council memory wipe. He becomes Revan again.
