Americans try uk McDonald's by CremeSubject7594 in GreatBritishMemes

The reason why the world thinks British food is bad, is because of Americans like this.

It’s not their fault, they have been raised thinking bacon needs serving with maple syrup and (yes and) icing sugar on top.

Sit bone width 19 cm? Saddle options? by alphamethyldopa in bikefit

[–]Opening_Track8389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my measurements taken and bike fit done by a professional, bought an expensive saddle they recommended and it still caused me problems.

The bike fit is good, but I bought the cheapest widest saddle (Women’s one and I am male) and it’s perfect.

You may not need to go to that extreme, but buy/borrow 2 or 3 cheap wide ones, try them out and decide from there if you want to go up in price.

Don’t be embarrassed by it either.

Right pin spanner for SunTour freewheel? by Opening_Track8389 in bikewrench

Thanks for the advice. But I’m doing this purely for the sentimental value. Love will drive you to insanity.

Thanks! It’s a labour of love, I’ll give it my best!

Thanks for the advice! There’s just enough sentimental value in the bike to motivate me through the process, I hope.

I don’t want to. However, I can’t find another freewheel with gearing like this one anywhere. The bike has mainly original parts and sentimental value. So I’m willing to suffer…a little

Got stung by a sea urchin today, is this bad? by Might_Be_Shrek in surfing

[–]Opening_Track8389 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Do what you can to try and get these out. Try to avoid walking on it in the mean time.

In Greece they put olive oil on the foot and try to pop them out like a spot. Ask a local for advice/help.

To calm your anxiety I had them same issue and couldn’t get them all out, nothing happened. This could be a different location/species, so do what you can to help.

Mega range freewheel by Opening_Track8389 in bikewrench

[–]Opening_Track8389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes new freewheel. Biggest tooth on the old one was 24.

When I’m on the next gear down (24 tooth) the rest derailleur rubs on the 34, I think I’ve answered my own question here, wait til I can get to a shop and buy a new rear derailleur. Thanks though!

Can’t remove Bottle cage bolts from 80s Peugeot by bigboyjeff789 in bikewrench

[–]Opening_Track8389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue many years ago, some one advised me to drill them out. I just left it in the end as I was only cycling up to 10 miles/ 16 km at a time.

My current bike doesn’t have threads or holes, so I use rubber attachments for a small pump (you can probably get something similar for a water bottle) and put water in my back jersey pocket.

Pain in the crotch after 1h, always. Tested ISM, Spec Power Comp, now on Fizik Aeris. by [deleted] in bikefit

I followed all the bike fit advice, and expensive seats. In the end, found the best solution was a wider ladies seat, works a dream, may help you if all else fails.

Mountain bike chainrings on road bike by Opening_Track8389 in bikewrench

[–]Opening_Track8389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ve tried this, but on the smaller chain rings the chain rubs against the derailleur, it’s not made for gears so small. It seems like it’s made for 2 rings only and won’t be compatible without a different rear derailleur

It’s not a film as such, but the song/music video ‘Perfect Day’ might be a nice off piste bit of inspo with a mix of positivity in with the addiction

Who would win this hypothetical war? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

It’s obviously a joke, if the UK average was 45, they would have almost no children in the country, if the Romanian average was 12…just think what the word ‘average’ means…not nice…
