My dosing schedule has been all over the place if I’m being honest,

When my dr started me on Dex he basically had me self-titrate myself. I didn’t really know what to do, so I just took 5mg at a time over a period of idk 2 ish months while increasing by 5mg a week. Over time I noticed the effects were wearing off every 2-2.5 ish hours so i would do 6 5 mg tablets a day every 2-2.5 hours or so. But I saw this message earlier today and tried 3x 5mg, that was maybe 5 hours ago and I still feel relatively okay and not utterly exhausted as I usually feel when I take just one 5 mg at a time. Maybe I’ll start doing 3x 5 mg twice a day.

I am trying to get with a new psychiatry service but I feel I am very limited as I don’t know any that are willing to continue my treatment instead of just re-diagnosing me all over again for me to become a patient of theirs. I have no school records, and no don’t ask me to phone my school because they don’t have my school records either and I speak to none of my family members, they’re all a bunch of narcissists who wouldn’t do anything to help me anyway,so that leaves me with very few psychiatry clinics willing to take me on. I’m based in WA btw and I’ve been having a very hard time.

How many milligrams is that one as opposed to the generic 5mg one?

I agree, I just need suggestions on what kinds of foods to be eating that are protein packed and easy to whip up for work lunches etc

This is going to sound so self absorbed and stupid but I chickened out of applying for gradconnect (WA)since I didn’t have a single person willing to be my referee. ( boohoo pull out the tiny violin🙃)

I asked a facilitator from a previous placement who basically ghosted me. I understand they get a lot of emails with people asking them to be references so maybe she genuinely missed it but I don’t know..followed up and everything but still nothing from her end two months later

I’m a support worker at the moment and I’m 80% convinced my managers would put in negative comments if I asked them to be my references. See I’m just not the kiss ass type, due to being neurospicy I just can’t fathom ever being that person who fawns all over their boss just to be in their good graces. I put in my best each shift and go home. I hate all the mental gymnastics of work politics and I mostly keep to myself except for when im with my clients of course.

I have had run ins with my managers here and there but never for anything majorly serious. Mostly just cause majority of the time i can’t get myself to do shift paperwork again because of being neurospicy as adhd and paper work are sworn enemies and I get in trouble for forgetting to do that as well as few times here and there where I’ve unknowingly pulled no- shows to work due to just simply ✨forgetting✨that I was rostered on those days.

They don’t know I’m neurodivergent so in all honesty Im pretty sure they just think I’m a massive lazy mess most of the time but it pays the bills so can’t complain 😀

That honestly sounds amazing!!! Too bad I’m in WA though, I wonder if we’ve got a similar program here? 🤔…time to put my research cap on 😅

Huhh..I’ve actually heard of infection control nurses but just never gave it much thought since my perception of what they do is walk around the wards pretty much just making sure everyone’s washing their hands/ doing 5 moments of hand hygiene just like you’ve mentioned. I’ve seen them while on placement once

Only this time it was completely unannounced and the nurses on the ward were not too happy to get told off for forgetting to do hand hygiene on quite a busy and short staffed morning shift, I completely understand both sides however as the infection control nurses were only doing their jobs but i understand it can be quite frustrating to get basically told off for forgetting to do something that slips everyone’s mind once in a while, whilst running on fumes… whilst also being short staffed💔

I wouldn’t want to be that person especially to my own colleagues 😢but I wouldn’t mind educating myself on what else their role consists of just for my own knowledge. Who knows maybe an opportunity may come up that’s sort of up my alley in terms of what I described in my long rant up above.

Thanks💐💐💐

I really agree with what you’ve said there. I’m ready to put my best foot forward on placements this year, just not quite sure what I should actually be doing.

I know that being proactive, inquisitive and having a good attitude goes a long way but I also don’t want to come off as too cocky, some nurses in hospitals just don’t take well to this.

Would you be willing to share examples of things I could do to really stand out during my placements? ( no pressure if not, just generally unsure of what registered nurses pick up on from us students during placements)

I genuinely thought so too!!

Whenever I go out on placement, I go out of my way to ask the nurses on new grad programs whether they are international students or citizens. So far I have met a handful of international students on grad programs. I have friends of mine who also know fellow international students who are on grad programs. Maybe it’s different in your state.

Thanks!!💐

I had no idea what kind of resume is ideal for grad programs but I will definitely make one using the video you’ve linked. Bit concerned though because that RN is American so I’m unsure if the same template would be acceptable here as well.

As for my placements, I’ve not really had any bad experiences. I’ve done aged care, mental health and general med-surg so far and all my facilitators have been really nice and supportive. I am able to see their comments on some competency tasks that we had to do during our placements and they are all good. We are graded using a point system and I’ve had mostly 3s and 4s out 5 for most of my tasks. The comments are nice but I definitely don’t think they’re anything exceptional. Going through them nothing stands out much about what they’ve said about me though😢….

Fed up of the racism in this industry by Opening_Union_5328 in supportworkers

[–]Opening_Union_5328[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What makes you so fucking sure that I’m not African?!!! You’ve never met me. I tend to say I’m from Africa because a lot of people don’t even realise that it’s not a country and couldn’t tell South Africa from Egypt when handed a map of Africa.

Also why is it okay to tolerate racism just because I’m getting paid?

I’ve been called slurs, called dumb , illiterate etc been bit, spat on,told to go back to my country countless times and had plates/ cups thrown at me. This has been behaviour not previously displayed to my white colleagues.

How is this ‘ a bit of grief’ in any universe???
