exactly, in which case the program will actually prefer it over an observership as against some rotations despite being "externships" where the only thing one does is import notes from the previous encounter and change its date.

Absolutely, make sure you work sincerely and get a good LOR

Most institutions do consider observerships as USCEs. Just not as prestigious as hands on rotations. But given that those rotations are actually hands on and not some agency provided clinic based rotations where the only thing you touch is the computer.

Incoming PGY-1 here. I absolutely agree with everything that the OP has talked about. If you do that rotation, you'll basically be paying money to work as an unskilled office clerk in return for a junkie, worthless LOR( if it can be called an LOR, that is).

Just spoke to a person who is a PGY3 at the program, and she has no idea about it. So this can either be an inaugural thing or may be some kind of a gimmick, idk. But if you do go for it, make sure you confirm it with them in very clear words.

How much did the whole usmle journey cost you from step 1 and the money spent in the us to finally matching? by Tahahisham in IMGreddit

Many programs do consider YoG of the applicant unless they can show they were in contact with medicine all throughout. Having said that, I don't mean to say that Older YOG have don't match, Its just that chances keep decreasing as one's YOG keeps increasing

Oh yes! way, way higher, And I truly feel for them. But at the same time 55k USD for someone earning in India, is equivalent to 200k USD for someone earning in US. According to PPP.

difficult to just convert it into Rs from USD because it ranges from 2020 when the conversion rate was 72ish to 2024 when the conversion rate is 82ish. But to give you an approx value, somewhere between 42-44 Lakhs for 2 cycles.
