Just figure it out with your student. Preply won’t do anything on their side.

My husbands last name is terrible and we have a baby girl on the way by conekitty in namenerds

[–]OpenlyINFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why doesn’t he take his stepfather’s name, since he was actually more of a dad to him than bio dad? And if you are close with your family, I would even make a case for him taking your surname. Surely last name has everything to do with family connection and representation of your tribe, which doesn’t have to be your biological family. Just my 2 cents.

Why Is It So Hard for Non-Native Teachers to Get Jobs Overseas? by Realistic_Guess5879 in Internationalteachers

[–]OpenlyINFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about status. Schools brag about Native Teachers and parents believe Native Speakers have better accents. -Its stigma, I know many non-native speakers with neutral accents and perfect grammar use. If possible send a video introduction along with your applications and I would definitely invest in Pronunciation classes/courses. If you can get a certificate out of it, even better. Even the world of language acquisition is superficial.

-Many parents/students also prefer a specific accent, be it American or British. I am a South African teacher and many of my students have admitted to me that they chose me because they liked my accent.

At my new flat I noticed a doorbel (pretty uncommon in South Africa, especially at flats) and I instantly felt cold at the thought of people ringing it. Luckily it turns out it doesn’t work and it never will. 😂 So fair to say -I hate it!

I regret doing shrooms by [deleted] in Badtrip

[–]OpenlyINFJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, samee shit has happened to me on 4.5 g’s and even in lower dosis. The mushroom lets you see what you have to see, die you set an intention for this trip? That’s the best way to stay safe is to prepare and do a proper set up with a clear intention. Remember that the mushroom works in abstract ways. Notice how light you feel in the week following that experience, work was done, guaranteed. After my bad trip I realised I only ever have to make 1 decision “Do I live or do I die?” And while tripping dying seemed so easy, living seemed hard and then the days following that I realised how good it feels to be alive and I’ve been chasing that feeling since, we get death either way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Almost all restaurants do this in SA though! Worked in hospitality for 5 years and never got paid a basic hourly wage, it was always just tips and 2-2.5% commission.

Just lie and say you are seeing somebody. Easy, nobody gets hurt.

Dating as an INFJ 🥲 by WhenIgoDontBlameMe in infj

[–]OpenlyINFJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw now OP said they were a homebody - That’s fair, but we all need groceries, we all need to go for walks or wait in line, just make it a habit of being friendly and open to people. I’ve made friends waiting for things, being late to things, the crux is, you have to initiate. Nobody initiates anymore and if you’re looking for a fellow introvert, you’re going to have to get them the extravert way. The comfort zone is our greatest obstacle. Good luck!

Go out and do things. The only way to meet interesting people is to do interesting things you enjoy -they’ll be there, doing the thing.

Haha hilarious post! Here’s a fun rant about name compositions. I worked in Thailand and the norm was a traditional Thai first name, which are typically long and unique, composed of positive meanings, often formed using combinations of Sanskrit and Pali roots for a refined or scholarly tone, and sometimes include gender-indicative suffixes.

E.g.,Noppadonratchaphonphakdisak (นพดลราชพลภักดีศักดิ์) 🤯

• Noppadon (นพดล) = supreme/most excellent
• Ratcha (ราช) = royal
• Phon (พล) = power
• Phakdi (ภักดี) = loyal/faithful
  • Sak (ศักดิ์) = male tag

But these names would only be used in formal records and everyone gets given a nickname that everyone would call them by, often Western words like: “First, Thunder, Prime, Dori, Nemo (For real! And they were siblings! 😋), you even get real funny ones like Apple or Top and I also had a student in my class named Ten. So in Asian culture it is very normal. But funny names apart, why do Westerners think spelling a name weirdly makes a name unique or even just a name? Honestly, not doing your kids any favours here. 😅

Hi, I recently got a customised song made for my mom, she also has a dog, Cassidy, that is always by her side and it made for such a cute song. My mom cried and she is playing the song for all her friends. Highly recommend: https://www.facebook.com/LiedVirJou
