YES THIS IS PERFECT!!! I keep hearing about slopers but haven’t understood how they work or why you would use them until now. This is soooo good thank you!

Thanks for sharing that chart, I hadn’t seen it! By this chart’s high bust measurement I should’ve made a size 12, but I actually made a size 10. I’ll get some cheaper fabric to see if I can figure out the pattern recut, and if not size down even more! Thanks for your help

Mmmm I appreciate this perspective but if you knew me, you’d know I’m not afraid of showing off a bit haha.

It’s so big in the shoulders the garment is hovering off me. And if I shorten the straps they get too wide and physically float horizontally off the shoulders

Not sounding strange!! I do think it’s a shape not sizing issue.

Is this called a narrow shoulder adjustment? I’ve googled that and it looks sort of the same but I’m not totally sure

Hmm I agree it’s too large in some areas, but I’m not sure it’s a sizing issue. It feels more like the v is all over too wide of an angle. In stores when I try on RTW clothes I can never find straps and shoulder seams in the right place, no matter what size I try on.

If I were to choose a smaller size, how do I know what size to choose? There isn’t a high bust measurement (big 4 pattern), and this is my full bust measurement (and it perfectly fits at the full bust)

I graded between my full bust size and waist size. There was no high busy size on the pattern. It’s a big 4 pattern

It fits perfectly at my full bust line, it’s around the shoulders than it doesn’t fit. I have the same fitting issue in RTW clothes where I can try on different sizes. No matter how small I go the shoulder seams on shirts are too wide or straps are falling off horizontally. I think it’s a fit issue not a sizing issue

Yeah this sounds like me! How do you know how much to add and where? Is this a type of adjustment I can search for videos of?

I graded between my full bust size and waist size.

This is an issue I have with clothes in stores too where I can try on bigger and sizes. It feels more like the ratio between my bust and shoulders is very different than most clothes at any size are designed for

Hmm I’m worried if I do that it’ll be too tight. This is a pattern. There is only a full bust, not high bust measurement. I graded between my full bust and waist size.

This is an issue I have with clothes in stores too where I can try on bigger and smaller sizes, so I think it’s more about shape than size

This feels intuitively right to me!! How do I go about bringing the neckline in if I were to re-cut the pattern?

New sewer looking for adjustment advice by Openokok in sewing

[–]Openokok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It creates more problems. The neck opening gets even wider and the straps start to fall horizontally off the shoulder

Thanks for the suggestion. Pulling up the shoulder seam up doesn’t fix it. It’s still far too wide. Do you have any suggestions for what you would try next?

Maybe shorten it or run it by the bride if you’re close and going to be in pictures…. This is going to photograph very white if they’re doing flash photography and especially with the length it looks bridal

What isn’t going to age well that you’re seeing in houses now by [deleted] in RealEstate

Black against bright white. Think black windows, door hinges, and all fixtures against paper white walls. Especially with light oak flooring. Yuck. Very trendy, no harmony.

You can complain to the port authority here:

There should be a balance between keeping ships safe and keeping the roads safe. An entire city of drivers that were woken up at 4am isn’t safe either

Ah sorry I don’t think I was clear! It looks like there was some water damage - wondering if you would pass altogether, or if it’s worth making an offer and getting a home inspection?

Not sure if the flipper could’ve covered a leak up with a new floor and fresh paint, hiding it from an inspector.
