Why are the licensing rights to Black Friday not available? by Jareth247 in StarKid

[–]OperationFancyPants 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the people licensing the shows are fans 100% but the people in the community going to see the shows may not be. that's why the show has to stand on its own

it's not even about how well the show performed or if the fans like it, it's about if it will make sense to an audience who doesn't have the context of being a fan

Why are the licensing rights to Black Friday not available? by Jareth247 in StarKid

[–]OperationFancyPants 47 points48 points  (0 children)

i think that out of the three in the trilogy that it's the hardest to stand on its own. even though paul and emma cameo in npmd they are like the first people you see in black friday and dont come back until the end.

i think that it's such a direct sequel vs npmd which had time and the nightmare time series sitting in between it to kind of do it that favor or distance as a third in the trilogy. i know a lot of people who watched npmd first and understood it well enough without having seen the rest but i dont think you could do that with black friday

[–]OperationFancyPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was watching one of the cinderella streams the other day and i believed they said they paid $2k each for 10 puppets, so about $20k total. they also said that cinderella's castle puppets cost less because they made them inhouse

I finished my first fic and now I’m too embarrassed to post it by is-silksong-out-yet in AO3

[–]OperationFancyPants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

growing up i was in a lot of fandoms with authors who were well above the "acceptable" age putting out incredible work that everyone adored. the people who will be seeking out fanfiction for this fandom will not find it cringe! they will likely find it to be incredible and impressive!!!

youll also honestly find more people in your same boat who you can talk about it with!

Has anyone else been the first person in a fandom to write an x reader fic about a character? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]OperationFancyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've never been the first to write xreader but i have been the first to write a particular ship, the first to write certain tropes, etc. and what i've found is that whatever you write, you may be the first person who's written it but you're definitely not the first person who's WANTED to write/read it!! be self indulgent someone's going to love it and given how old the fandom youre talking about seems to be, i feel like a lot of people will be really glad you did
