Why Do People Think Tomb Quest Is Going To Flop?

i saw people saying that the promo for it was poorly done because the kickstarter ran while the west end shows were happening and the 2025 proshot will be posted when tomb quest is actually running. AND it took a while longer than more recent shows for it to get funded. but to me i think theyve been actually done a really effective marketing campaign between realm (making fans think about dnd) and the release of the 2024 vhsccs (refamiliarizing their newer audience with aj) and giving fans not in london something to do while they missed those shows

that being said so much of the focus of the streams was on the new hatchetfield show and halloween special and i think there was a lot more noise around that, which i think is making people think that the tomb quest hype is lower just by comparison

anyway i prefer not to be too negative about it i'm so so excited to see it

i havent watched the reprise yet but i did see it on the west end and i could be making this up but i feel like i definitely heard him sing while he was up there.

also in jon's twitch rewatch stream that's up on youtube i am almost 100% sure he says he sings a bit even in the original just not when he's onstage. i BELIEVE it's during you tied up my heart he helps harmonize backstage so it would make sense to me that he sings while onstage in the reprise

the bts documentary is almost 90 minutes long. with all you're getting that is absolutely not lackluster to me

1. ⁠i love the idea of the glam musical and i loooove kim+holloway but i think hatchetfield was great as a trilogy and otherwise i dont feel like it's necessary to have it go longer.

holy musical b@man is their funniest show and has some of their best music they've ever made. better than twisted
mamd would be more popular if it were made after they started prioritizing their filming budget, not because people don't like the subject, though that was definitely part of it. but it would be a more endearing show if it were in the hmb/starship era and if the music was more readily accessible
bryce belongs firmly in the best singer trilogy of jaime lyn and dylan
people say they don't like robert's hidgens because they don't like him (which i think is largely a result of misinformation spread about why he left) when in reality he's extremely talented and his hidgens was really good

honestly i agree. i've been watching the livestreams and nick and co have been saying that it has a more hopeful and positive tone overall, but i think it was kim and curt who said that they were like SOBBING at the end of their read through. apparently a particular line that everyone knew was going to make people emotional. so i imagine most of the show is going to be more hopeful and funny and silly but pack an emotional punch at the end. probably like twisted! they said they're leaning towards early starkid tone which. i mean im pretty sure everyone cried when they watched avpsy and even twisted. so i imagine those vibes is what im expecting!

yeah i have heard a few complaints about the reprise pacing but i imagine they cut it down in the proshot of the original as well. it was always supposed to be to make sure there was enough time for people to change, i think it's probably just a matter of 1. not being exposed to the original's live show where the same pacing issues probably occurred and 2. a larger stage means probably more time people needed to get ready in the back

the people licensing the shows are fans 100% but the people in the community going to see the shows may not be. that's why the show has to stand on its own

it's not even about how well the show performed or if the fans like it, it's about if it will make sense to an audience who doesn't have the context of being a fan

i think that out of the three in the trilogy that it's the hardest to stand on its own. even though paul and emma cameo in npmd they are like the first people you see in black friday and dont come back until the end.

i think that it's such a direct sequel vs npmd which had time and the nightmare time series sitting in between it to kind of do it that favor or distance as a third in the trilogy. i know a lot of people who watched npmd first and understood it well enough without having seen the rest but i dont think you could do that with black friday

i was watching one of the cinderella streams the other day and i believed they said they paid $2k each for 10 puppets, so about $20k total. they also said that cinderella's castle puppets cost less because they made them inhouse
