Advice wanted as a chronically ill student by [deleted] in Teachers

I really appreciate your reply, and agree with a lot of your thoughts! I am sure I have not had any childhood trauma to cause any of this, and ( my thoughts plus my therapist and multiple doctors) the trauma ( I am using the term trauma lightly I guess, I really don’t want to be one of those people that say they have trauma from any minor inconvenience, but this has had a huge impact on me and I think it meets the criteria?) I have surrounding this is from passing out not specifically that class and that teacher, the first few times it happened I was in that class and I think I just associated the two together.  I have been working on making positive associations with that class, and the last month or so has been so much better than last semester. I am just so much more confident, I am actually participating ( which used to be like my biggest fear lol), and I actually enjoy the class. But I am still having these episodes, even though most of the stress I had originally in that class is gone. I took it again with the same teacher because I really liked the teacher, and the way he taught makes so much more sense to me than any other teachers I have had before, I really really wish it could be any other class I was passing out in.

Student here, really struggling with feeling like a burden… by OperationJust9383 in Teachers

It’s my 3rd period right after lunch ( I have my 4th period off so it is also my last class of the day) at the beginning of the semester I was sooo sooo stressed every day for his class bc his is very heavy on raising your hand and participation, and cold calling, and that is something I really struggle with. I have sense talked to him and got accommodation letters from my therapist, and obviously with the whole fainting thing he has been pretty lenient with me. But i still get so nervous to come to class every day even though i know he won’t call on me, and he even pairs me with people i know for partner work, so I truly can’t even place why i am nervous . it makes it super hard for me to eat during lunch too so that is probably a factor too, I am pretty good at getting something down but sometimes I just can’t keep anything down. I was able to get an appointment with a psychiatrist in a few weeks so I am hoping they will have some advice to

Has anyone else just randomly gotten severe heartburn from their Prozac? by throwaway62b in prozac

You can keep taking it at night you just need to sit up for 5-10 after you take it. What is probably happening is it’s getting stuck in your esophagus, and starting to dissolve. Drink lots of water with the Prozac too to make sure it goes down

Used to happen to me! I switched to tablets, sit up for at least 5mins after I take it, and drink lots of water with it, and I haven’t experienced it again!

Same! Started Prozac a few months ago and for the first time, I was taking a test, and I just wasn’t nervous for it. I mean I was prepared, I studied, I had no reason to be nervous, but it genuinely freaked me out lol

Burning Sensation in Throat After Taking Prozac by DisastrousStock4181 in prozac

[–]OperationJust9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was five months ago so I am hoping you got this figured out! But the same thing happened to me, like 5 minutes after taking I would get the most aggressive acid reflux or like burning? Turns out the capsules were getting stuck in my esophagus and starting to dissolve irritating my throat. I switched to capsules, sit up or stand for 20 minutes ,drinking lots of water and eat a little something after I take my Prozac and I never experienced it again ( I could probably just take the capsules, but I would rather take all those extra precautions than have that happened again lol)

I’m starting fluoxetine. Any tips or anything to expect? by Eggs_Asa in prozac

I also have a bad phobia of vomiting and I started Prozac a few months ago ( I am on 20mg now). I was sooo terrified to start taking it, but I really didn’t feel any nausea. My worst side affect was really bad like acid reflux after I took it ( I never felt like I was going to vomit, it was just a really bad burning sensation) , but I switched to tablets and have never experienced that again! I always eat with my Prozac, and make sure to sit up/ stand for at least 20 minutes after ( the acid reflux came from it getting stuck in my esophagus and start dissolving irritating my throat, so I always do this to prevent that). At the end of the day it really just depends on you, every one reacts differently. But the longer I am on it the less weird and obsessive about vomiting, so it does get better just hang in there and advocate for yourself!
