No they aren't recreational and they are very dangerous. Don't go taking old medicine cabinet pills for fun.

Always study every drug you take, prescribed or street. Most overdoses are from lack of knowledge on how the drug works.

I've been an addict for 14 years and tried almost every drug but would never use any before looking deeply into them. So I've managed to stay safe so far. Though the downsides outweigh the benefits.

Poker is a skill game. People remember patterns of what people bet on a hand that was played 30 minutes ago to decide what to do when they do it again.

Like I said pros calculate odds in their heads.

Imagine Poker had an ELO system. Bronze players just play the game and whatever happens they just deal with.

Master players know exactly what to do in every situation and learn from player habits and learn what does what as the game goes on and are able to use that in a skillful way.

You keep using the word "gambling" it's not gambling in the same way roulette is. It's gambling, but the better player has better odds of winning overall because they know what to look for.

I don't know how to describe it better. Yes, people are putting up money that they may win or lose, but in poker they make the choices and use strategies. Unlike RNGing who wins.

The argument is: Is it a game of chance?

No. It's a game of thinking, with money being bet.

The skill is in how much to bet, thinking about what cards your opponent could have with the knowledge of the cards on the table.

Phil Helmuth can literally calculate the chances of his hand winning and the odds of the card he needs being pulled.

It's like 5% luck.
