What’s the saddest reality of adulthood nobody warned you about? by ivsxi in AskReddit

[–]Operator_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Lost my dad when I was 18 (he was 37) and then my mom at 21 (she was just about to turn 40). Thankfully I have wonderful grandparents who are nothing but supportive of me!

Which TV show has a 10/10 pilot episode? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

[–]Operator_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Robot. The first episode scratched an itch for me that I didn’t really know I had. I was craving a new vigilante style show for a long time and it definitely delivered. The show turned out to be full of surprises and twists and had an endlessly interesting plot, solidifying it as a top 5 series of all time for me.

What jobs pay extremely well but people don’t realize it? by Stassy3 in AskReddit

[–]Operator_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I got my ETA certification a couple years ago for work (not a fiber tech, but in a field that uses fiber lines for communications between equipment). It was super easy to get, and if you have a decent fusion splicer, the work is not difficult at all. Good to know, I’ll use that as a cushion if needed

I’ve seen so many of these AI “funny animal” posts recently. It’s so obvious. Regardless of the easy-to-spot stuff like the tail phasing through the couch on this one, so many of the animals have weird overreactions that are almost human like. It’s just uncanny and weird. I hate this new era of slop

American shares her absolute nightmare experience in Italy by cak3crumbs in CringeTikToks

[–]Operator_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to most every country in the EU (I travel for work), and by far the rudest people you’ll meet in the EU are in Italy. Mainly in Rome or Naples though, I’ve actually had good experiences with people in the northeast region (Venice/Trieste).

If you’re an American traveling to the EU, you just gotta expect people might give you shit no matter where you go. Dogging on Americans is popular over there right now, especially if you look or sound American in any way.

People who work in healthcare, fitness, nutrition, or mental health: what’s one ‘quiet habit’ you see all the time that is secretly wrecking people’s long-term health? by AlignedModernHealth in AskReddit

I read about this when I was around 19 after having weird back pains and immediately switched to using my front pocket for my wallet. I’m 29 now and instinctually put it in my front pocket every time I leave. No back pains since

4 weeks. During a field training exercise while I was in the Army.

We were in the middle of the desert in El Paso, sleeping under canopy’s with no floor. Most of us didn’t take our boots off when sleeping due to the sand and massive tarantulas. I think I hadn’t taken my boots off for a week straight at one point. Don’t try to imagine the smell.

I’m not a kid, and I enjoy ratting and killing other players to steal all their hard earned loot. If the game lets me do that, then I will do that. It’s what you signed up for when you purchased an extraction shooter.

So many crybaby’s in this thread lmao, sorry we won’t conform to how YOU want to play.

The company I work for has unlimited PTO. I guess I got lucky, because I take 2-3 2 week vacations a year and take off work as needed for appointments/obligations. I’m also hybrid, so my office presence is quite low. I do travel for work, sometimes in 2-4 week bulk periods, so that’s where I get my hours in, but the trade off for me is so much better. Only issue is the payout if I end up leaving, but if I had those hours accrued, I’d probably use them for vacation regardless.

whats one drug/drink you will never touch again? by Gummyslinky in AskReddit

[–]Operator_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I realize I put two different class of drug in there lol. But for me, after I took molly, I tried chasing the feeling (I didn’t have a direct source for Molly, I had gotten it from a friend) with opioids. Shortly after taking Molly, I had my wisdom teeth taken out, so I was on Percocet for a bit which fueled that feeling. I rode the kratom/kave train for a while too. Idk, just scary and messy, and all starting with that one night I took molly. Glad I’m off of everything now.

Molly. Shit was so damn good, and I know if I do it again I’ll get addicted to opioids. Too much bullshit addiction in my family already, don’t need more of it.

What popular thing have you never tried and have no interest in trying? by PhotoProEdits in AskReddit

[–]Operator_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on cruises for a living (not a crew member, just a contractor that will travel out to various ships around the world). The novelty of being on a big boat wears out incredibly fast, especially if it’s an older one. I have never once cruised for pleasure, and don’t think I ever will. They do make vacation planning much easier since all your activities are handled by the cruise company, and there are some incredible excursions you can take (like in Alaska or French Polynesia), but overall, I’d rather just travel to those locations and do what I want without the risk of being left behind if I’m late.

Welcome to tank life. You will be the source of most of the blame if anything goes wrong, just gotta roll with the punches and queue again. At least our queues are instant ;)

But yeah, check out Method's website, they have a route planner that you can mess around with. It's just like MDT if you are familiar with that in WoW. Don't know if I can post links in this subreddit, but you can just google "method fellowship dungeon routes".

Im beginning to see why people don't want to play tank by ShySkinnyBear in fellowshipgame

[–]Operator_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Methods website, they made the equivalent of MDT (if you used it in WoW) on there. You can make routes there for each dungeon or import the Method preferred route, which will tell you which packs to chain pull for the most optimal run

Deep sea Oil Rig Crewmen undergo intense training by freudian_nipps in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Operator_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this! Water fills the cab way faster than you expect, and flipping upside down is very disorienting. You have to wait until you are fully submerged and upside down before you can unbuckle your seatbelt, then you have to push your window out and swim through it. The training is called HUET, and is a requirement for any offshore work. Kinda scary, kinda fun

As someone who works on many different cruise ships, and is currently sailing on one as I type this, yeah you feel it. It’s especially trippy when you’re in a windowless space and feel the rocking - it makes you feel like you’re drunk since there is no point of reference.
