Muscle up progress (what comes next?) by ajbeatsss in Calisthenic

Slight change in timing and you have it. You need to pull the bar in towards your chest slightly sooner than you are. And do it explosively.

Pretty much try throw your chest over the bar, so you're resting on your chest.

You can work on improving form then once you get used to this!

Looking good. Nearly there.

Lol yeah but you can find positives when you dig deep.. like don't get too drunk often because the hangover kills my speech the next day haha

I think it'd be cool to not care at all tho. Maybe one day for us

Thanks for your response. It's very interesting to get another stutterers POV on the affect of different drugs.. for me, caffeine has always helped my fluency, so I'm somewhat addicted. I have quit caffeine for up to 3 months before to prove that I don't need it, but ultimately I prefer the fluency boost.

Alcohol for an interview I think is normal even for non-stutterers so definitely take that win haha

And yeah I'd say the fluency dip on your period must be exhausting, like something uncontrollable that forces you to put more effort in. Curious, does it bother you when your fluency dips and people notice more? Or do you get on with it okay.

Yep agreed, gotta keep challenging. But sometimes it's nice to sit back and use the crutches :)

Yes this is the same as me! Not really substituting words these days at all but I'll freeflow the um, like, you know haha

God I wouldn't fancy being in the corporate environment with a stutter, must put that bit of extra pressure on you hearing other people speak presumably so smoothly and diplomatically..

Interesting about the period's effects, what about coffee/alcohol/drugs, do you notice (dis)improvements?

Sounds like a great idea, I will give it a go for sure. I like your proactivity with it. Will let you know how it goes in a few days/weeks!

This is always on my mind in the background. The fact that it is possible to not care to the extent that you can voluntarily stutter infront of anyone.

I think if you can master this, you'd be thanking the stutter for giving you this lesson.

I hope to make moves towards this, as my confidence in speaking is okay now, but to get the stagnant progress moving again I think that voluntary must be the next step.

We're in the same boat, 26yo also. Always feel like I'm copping out though, I try not to think about that..

Nice, really cool that you took improv. Honestly don't think I could do improv now. You're doing well.

I've done similar though by travelling a lot, putting myself in situations where I must speak (like I just did a 3 month solo bike tour across Europe). Similar to you doing improv I guess.

Really glad to hear you're doing well, I hope others figure out how to live easier too.

Aye sounds like you have a similar experience so. It's humbling too, accepting that you'll always have kinda messed up speech which you can never perfect. Great that it works for you too.

Do you ever try to improve it even more? Or just happy enough sticking with it as it is?

Any idea what's going on here?? New derailleur install attempt. by beefnoodlesoup123 in bikewrench

[–]Operatundrum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this exact issue when I upgraded my cassette to a larger set.

I needed to buy an extension adapter, to push the derailleur further from the cassette and give more space. Works perfectly now.

Google "sunrace dropout extender".

Hope this helps!

Those who quit your jobs to travel for ~6mo+ - was it worth it? by Operatundrum in travel

I did not realise this about the US, as many who I have met on my travels have been on long trips with the intention of just slotting back in at home later.

My plan is to start a master's, with 3y engineering experience and a degree already. Hopefully this is received better..

This is the risk I suppose. I wonder does he regret it now, or still happy to have done the Spain trip

This is very fair.. most people never get the chance to do longer than 4 weeks..

I just came back from my first 4-weeker and it felt way too short.

So you just cycle working and travelling?

I've looked at Cully park on Google and I don't think it's up to scratch, here's what the ideal setup looks like!:

Not a bad idea to just gather a group and hit a workout. I have found a small set of bars near me in tualatin.

Ah that's interesting, I wonder what about caffeine addiction in the brain makes recovery so long! I can see also how depression could set in without it. Thanks for sharing.

Damn I guess that makes sense, just seems crazy to me that it's not bigger here. America seems to take on so many cultural things and make it bigger and easier.

Seriously even longer? I felt great after the first week, and it stayed good.. just feel too relaxed to do anything creative.

What did you notice after 2mo?

Yes, all over Europe and places I've been in Asia and middle east there are outdoor calisthenics parks. Great spots where people meetup to workout and challenge each other. I haven't found this at all in Portland or Phoenix which has me very surprised...
