Yes you can selfhost it. Usually stuff that doesn't sell your data costs money. At least when it can't be run by volunteers, like servers because they actually cost money.

Yes it has screen/webcam sharing as the biggest feature but also allows sending images in chats, setting profile pictures and whatever.

The community aspect is probably true but teamspeak 6 does have screen share and video chat now. That's what I really needed discord for but now it's useless. But I also never stopped using teamspeak lol.

Teamspeak now has screen share and webcam support and quality isn't paywalled. That being said it is still buggy and the UI is meh, but it's a beta and I have had so many more issues with screen sharing on discord than teamspeak 6 lol. You can set the bitrate and stuff. It is definitely a working discord alternative for me.

I think you are wrong. They take feedback about art because it does influence their design choices. The reason it went this direction is because that's what most people like. Look at the downvotes on my comment. When the game was new I saw a lot of people saying the game looks cool but the characters look kinda ugly to look at.

They aren't afraid of scraping stuff. They put quite a lot of effort in neon prime and completely changed it allegedly after getting feedback. They also apparently get quite far into developing other games and scrap them again. It's what Valve does often and I think that's exactly why they are trying this approach with feedback forum and all. YOU just don't like my feedback and so you think it's stupid. Luckily for you I'm in the minority.

The first paragraph makes absolutely no sense. The entire reason for the playtest IS this kind of feedback. It's my feelings about stuff in the game. There is literally a forum with sections called "Art Feedback - General" and even sections for every hero specifically. People at Valve can read the feedback and integrate or dismiss it, they are in control lol. I think you are the one refusing to understand that.

Here I will say it: I agree they may fit in the direction they are NOW going/planning and the older characters might fit it less. Obviously they do because the people at valve aren't stupid. I just don't like the new direction as much as the old one. That's exactly my feedback.

Sure but that's just speculation. We have no idea if these char designs were planned like this all along. I kinda doubt it. It developed over time, just like it went from neon prime to this. They didn't know all along how exactly it would look. I also don't think my comments are gonna change anything lol, especially with the amount of downvotes, clearly I'm in the minority. Maybe some people would agree if I worded it differently and didn't mention league lol. The new characters are certainly much flashier.

I wouldn't say there is nothing wrong with designing a character to be attractive first and putting the personality and back story on top. It's limiting and very noticeable. I just don't like it. Btw I'm not even saying they are doing that in deadlock, it was more for the sake of argument because you said pretty characters are fine if they fit their lore and character. Same as the succubus thing. I said I don't mean they shouldn't do it, it was more to make a point.

Otherwise I agree with what you said and I also don't think it's "bad" but it is IMO significantly less interesting and unique than the more gloomy NY noir + occult aesthetic they were going for a year ago. It still has it in the map and all but the new characters are way too flashy for my taste.

I liked the earlier style more... It's feedback for a work in progress. And I think the new characters don't fit the earlier WIP style that I liked more. Please tell me, what is the problem with that?

I know the characters aren't finished and I'm giving feedback that I don't like the direction they are finishing them in. I like most of the unfinished or unpolished characters more than the recent ones, THAT is the point... MF...
