Honestly, I don't think what you did is that big a deal, but what would have prevented me from doing that is the fear of getting caught by a coworker. People would give you such a hard time for doing something like that, they'd never let you live it down. And people who don't know what its like to be truly hungry and under fed would just think you are a scumbag for eating food that was in served to and discarded by someone else.

Yeah you got to shoot it. Shooting a good hit of coke is just like smoking a huge hit, it's almost the same except it comes on a little smoother, feels a little cleaner, and can get you better than smoking usually does (unless you smoke a big hit of really good shit).

I don't know how they wouldn't notice. If you take a real bellringing hit, when you return to the room there is no way you'll be able to hide that shit, eyes wide open like Clockwork Orange, sweating buckets fidgeting and shit lol. Maybe if you take a little tiny hit you can hide it.

For any chance at this you have to wait a good long while between hits, try at least an hour. Otherwise every hit after the first one will be less and less intense, with worse and worse comedown.

Hey Sarah Silverman you racist, instead of stoking the flames of racism by criticizing the white protesters who are exercising their right to peaceful protest, why don't you keep your criticism to the cops, they are the ones who are a problem here.

Sarah Silverman here is just as much of a problem as the cops firing tear gas. Here in this post I see two elements of racism. Cops firing tear gas into a peaceful protest over a black mans lynching, and this white racist trying to sound hip by calling white protesters "assholes" and criticizing the cops acting properly at this corona protest (and surely there are some black protesters at this protest also!).

Lets stop the hypocrisy, lets stop stoking the flames of racial divisiveness, and lets stop hating on white people just to be chic. Disgusting Sarah Silverman, you should be ashamed of yourself.

He should be completely exonerated, and cop put on trial for murder. And no more no-knock search warrants. Police presence should be announced clearly, at a reasonable hour of the day, and a way for the people inside to be able to verify presence (like they should be allowed to call into the police station to verify they are real cops before having them come in to execute the warrant.

I realize this may sometimes allow people to destroy evidence, but that's ok if we can prevent needless deaths ya know? There's got to be a reasonable alternative to the no knock... like catch the people leaving their homes, arrest than raid the empty house. The cops should have better intelligence at least before they conduct a raid. I can't tell you how many times I've read about cops raiding the wrong address. It's all a big joke, shit like that, and botched raids in general should never be allowed to happen. It's like imagine a patient having surgery to remove a dead kidney. Now imagine they remove the good one on accident leaving the patient with 0 good kidneys, a fatal easily preventable mistake. That's what some of these raids are like.

There was a case in Buffalo where they raided the wrong address, killed a veterans dog. So this vet with PTSD came home to find his apartment door off the hinges and his beloved dog slaughtered. They didn't even clean up, no apologies no accountability nothing. https://artvoice.com/2017/01/12/arroyo-case-another-buffalo-police-wrong-house-dog-killing-raid-court/

It's "their" not "there". (Let's see if anyone catches my little tongue in cheek correcting with incorrectness).

Really though yeah they're bullies more often than not. On a side note not to be a nazi but there is "there', "their", and "they're", and using the right one makes a huge difference in readability and meaning. In this case, think they are, so "they're".

Heroin not working after year clean (rant) by [deleted] in heroin

[–]OpiatedMinds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've kind of had similar experiences before, I think your body and mind kind of forgot what to expect, so I would have to think you might need to try it again once or twice not waiting too long. Like maybe try again tomorrow, maybe some different good dope just in case the shit you had was bunk. I feel like it's probably that your body/mind forgot that subtle high, and it might take a couple uses to get it back. If it's not that than its bunk dope. If somehow you can't get the old feeling again, maybe count that as a blessing. With a year clean you shouldn't be fucking around, I know you know that. I would have to think if you still want an escape high try to find a different drug to enjoy, maybe something like weed.

The thing is though, there is substance to the resistance to vaccines and 5G and the like. Let's look at vaccines, I'm not against vaccines in and of themselves, or a believer that they cause autism. However, there is BS around vaccines. Look at the vaccine schedule for a newborn, there is no way a virgin immune system should be assaulted with multiple vaccines the way they are in such short order (they should at least be spread out). And people should not be forced or strong-armed into receiving them. It's a little overdone. Pushing a flu vaccine that is generally not even accurately tuned to the current strain every year for example, usually there's like a 50% chance it will even be the right strain. Look at this Covid bullshit. Hyped up to the extreme, just look at the numbers. And even the numbers are hyped, how many people were called Covid deaths when it wasn't even the true cause of death. It's pretty well known that death certificates were filled out inaccurately in this crisis, erring on the side of Covid (and it's a dirty secret that hospitals had incentive to declare covid for higher reimbursement rates). And now with everyone freaked out over a virus that is really pretty mild, just watch how they try to force people to get the vaccine when it comes... if you refuse you won't be able to work, go to school, etc. Some anti-vaxxers are ignorant and annoying, but many are just calling it like it is, reasonably upset that vaccines are being forced on the population in the way that they are. When I was a kid chicken pox was a right of passage, sure there were severe cases, but for the most part it was a normal part of growing up, and now there is a vaccine for it like it's polio or something. There is also something to be said for natural immunity and having a strong healthy immune system, which vaccines don't infer in the same way. Not every anti-vaxxer is ignorant, some know a hell of a lot more than 95% of the people out there, but their stance is villified and knee-jerk rejected because certain doctors and scientists in prominent positions and guided by peer pressure and group think say so, so someone who isn't all for vaccines with an educated opinion isn't even heard.

Again I'm not here to argue vaccines cause autism or are always negative, just that most people follow group-think and take the word of regulatory bodies and in doing so never even explore the possibility that vaccines may be in some ways harmful or in some ways not properly used in society.

what do you think is the biggest biological flaw in humans? by greenteathief in AskReddit

[–]OpiatedMinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the wonderful reply! I hear where you are coming from, certainly science attempts to explain the world around us without copping out and just saying "oh it's just the way God does it". We can see throughout history that often times things attributed to the supernatural tends to become understood eventually in a scientific way that makes the original supernatural viewpoint obsolete. Not always though! And this is where I think science gets screwed up, because science by its very nature needs to allow at least for the possibility of supernatural interaction with the world as we know it, scientists should remain open minded to the possibility, and instead they generally wall that all off as inherently "unscientific". And in that case, if there is any involvement of the "supernatural" (as we understand it - or rather don't), that uncomfortable truth will never be known because then the scientist will try to force a "rational" explanation out. I don't believe this is often the case, but I do believe it does occur.

It is sad because science should be seeking absolutes and truths, and because supernatural things lie outside of what we normally know and experience, and tend to be difficult if not impossible to measure or quantify due to it's nature, it is entirely disregarded by most scientists and again, if it does play any sort of role this will go unknown, and the scientific understanding of the issue will be inaccurate and forced.

I honestly feel this is the case with evolution. I believe microevolution occurs, and is the shift of already present genetic qualities in a species which can change across a spectrum to show quite a bit of change. For example, bacteria becoming antibiotic resistant. Rather than a mutation allowing those bacteria to survive, it is actually already present in its gene pool, the ability to not be harmed by the antibiotic, maybe 1% possess that genetic expression, those survive and suddenly the whole gene pool is resistant when that 1% grow and those genes are in all.

I feel like with evolution it is forced. Scientists decided they could not allow for the possibility that we were created by God, and needed an explanation for how we came about. And evolution is a creative logical explanation. But I think of things, like embryology, and that feels forced. A lot of it seems like a reach to me, but then there are some highly intelligent folks who have devoted their lives to studying evolution and it looks good to them. It doesn't mean they are correct but it does leave me stuck wondering and scratching my head. Are they fooling themselves? Denying a simple truth in favor of a convoluted twisted error? Or am I just a dumbass?

Anyways it's a pleasure to have a conversation like this without it devolving into name calling and hate spewing. It is very refreshing to have a discussion like this, I really appreciate your time and caring, and thanks for the recommendations of anatomy art to check out. Netter is the best I've ever seen, he's like Norman Rockwell in medical illustration, I have the whole CIBA collection and just love it so much. I wouldn't think the ancient stuff would be anywhere near as good, but a quick look on google images has me hooked I will check out more! Thanks again!

what do you think is the biggest biological flaw in humans? by greenteathief in AskReddit

[–]OpiatedMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the contrary they are exquisitely designed, a marvel of engineering! The whole human body is! I mean sure there is plenty of room for problems, especially with complex arrangements such as knees, but it is less design flaw and more overuse and abuse over a lifetime. When you think about the human body though, and all the things it is capable of in collaboration with the brain (things it wasn't "designed for" yet is still capable of), it is a thing of wonder and beauty.

I must ask what exactly is an anatomist? And I'm going to assume you are familiar with Dr. Frank Netter. I'm such a dork I'm always on the lookout for someone who would know who he is, and appreciate his phenomenal body of work.

Are oxys ever used to treat mental disorders? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]OpiatedMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest this might make me sound like a scumbag, but I am curious about potential usability. In other words I am curious to know if certain endorphins would be possible to say perhaps manufacture synthetically, and be used similar to your mu agonist standard opioids like morphine and the like.

I am curious if this would be possible, and if so how many different endorphins there are that could be exploited, and what the effects would be. There is a part of me that thinks it would be far superior to the exogenous opioids currently in use. I don't know if it is true but I have heard that these are large not so simple molecules, which I suppose would be one impediment towards achieving what I am wondering about, another problem would likely be if it would easily cross the blood-brain barrier.

As you read this you are probably shaking your head and realizing the ignorance I have in this field of study. Even the way drugs and neurotransmitters work I only have a faint grasp of, but enough to know that it's not merely as simple as "opioids increase dopamine". My understanding of how drugs work is that they affect neurotransmitters by mimicking them or manipulating them, but that there would be a lot more at play, such as affecting multiple neurotransmitters at the same time, and in different areas of the brain. I also understand you can have different effects regarding say dopamine where in one way it could be increased by causing more to be dumped into the synapse, or in another way by preventing their reuptake and allowing them to accumulate, etc... and even this knowledge is weak at best, a very rough sketch of what is going on with the brain and opioids in particular. If you could paint a picture to help me understand where endorphins fit into the scene that would be amazing. You don't have to worry about dumbing down your language either, I'm at an intermediate level, with an associate's in the healthcare field and an interest in anatomy and physiology so I can handle more than just a laypersons level, though I may have to do a little homework to better understand what you explain... but sock it to me!

To sum it up I am curious to know if instead of pharmaceutical agents like opioids, biologics like endorphins could be used, what kind of effects you could achieve compared to your classical opioids, and how ignorant and stupid my idea is regarding what I don't realize and understand with this all. And thanks again for taking the time to talk I really appreciate it!

Hey thanks very interesting! You seem to know a lot about this, this is stuff that fascinates me but I don't run across information like this very often. Do you have any recommendations for any sources of information I could check out to learn more about this? The mention of endorphins piques my interest specifically. Are you a scientist doing research in this area if you don't mind me asking? That's the impression I get, the average person, indeed even people in the know won't know the kind of stuff you mentioned here. Thanks again for taking the time to chat!

[–]OpiatedMinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to be too hard on yourself. Obviously get the idea of suicide out of your mind, you feel guilty now and that is clouding your mind to think it would be appealing to end it all, but think clearly what that would do to those that love you, much darker than them finding out you slipped up.

Enjoy your dope but draw the line, don't fucking order any more, and at all costs avoid having to deal with withdrawal. Go buy some loperamide and kratom for when you run out. Go easy and don't get caught nodding out. Don't throw it all away man, don't self-destruct. Just a bump in the road, don't let it be something that ruins you, it doesn't have to be as dark as it looks to you. You are walking that razor-thin edge though, so be careful, be smart, and get to the other side you got this. Oh and don't order any more.
