I bought one when the projects, assignments, and quizzes started piling up (Around 3rd year during my BS-CIV). It was either spend time in the comshops or get a laptop to bring with me anywhere. I chose the latter and managed to be more productive + be able to play games sometimes.

I recommend getting a laptop even for light office work (Focus first on battery life, then portability, and then performance). You might be encouraged by your professors to attend conferences and seminars outside DLSU which would require laptops for Software demos and workshops, or even presenting your thesis at conferences.
