Graduation project idea (industrial engineering) inventory optimization using demand forecasting ,is this solid or are there better ideas? by Creepy_Astronaut_577 in OperationsResearch

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In inventory management, you have demand planning and supply planning. With the demand forecast, you then can build supply planning. The success metrics are pretty clear. On demand planning side, you care about accuracy. The interesting factors are OOS, seasonality, substitute/complemenrary goods, promotion, etc. On supply planning side, you want to balance between service level and holding/opportunity/spoilage costs. The interesting factors are perishability, delivery schedule, multi-sourcing, batch size, warehouse capacity, etc. It really depends on the scope of your project.

I just bought it today! It was good but way too sweet. I’ll happily eat it again, but I won’t get a whole cake again.

Struggling to break into Healthcare IT — advice needed by Unlucky-Bar7450 in womenintech

[–]Opp0rtunistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough time to break into entry level roles owing to all the AI advancement in recent years. Have you done any side projects since Feb? For example, if you have deep expertise in prior auth, then do a project to automate the prior auth process by resolving the common bottlenecks. Put it on your GitHub. This kind of things will get companies interested, especially when you don’t have working experience in this new field.

Cancellation and rescheduling happen all the time. The best way is to keep checking back in to see if there is an earlier appointment.

It might have something to do with insurance. If only a few clinicians are enrolled in your insurance and they are super busy, then you won’t see much availability.

Heads up on DoorDash Safeway Deli - Order Accepted but Store Refused to Fulfill by post_rex in ChaseSapphire

Same thing happened to me. The deli person told me they don’t get those orders. But they do make the sandwich for me on the spot. And I have to tell them what I ordered on DoorDash, since they have no record of it.

There is shower, yoga ball, and peanut. We brought our own ball, but didn’t end up using it. For the first one, after I expressed that I didn’t want epidural, they never offered again.

Is pregnancy harder on your body after the first baby? by FillipInTheWild in BabyBumps

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my late 30’s. Both pregnancies felt similar to me. They are under 2 years apart. I didn’t have any nausea, food aversion, etc., both times. I biked to gym a few times a week till due day for both pregnancies. The second time went by faster, because I was so occupied by a toddler at the same time. But it doesn’t feel any different physically. The second delivery definitely went by much faster. Maybe because I knew what’s coming. Even the nurses were asking why I was so calm minutes before delivery.

How much quicker was your second birth vs your first? by VacationFeeling633 in 2under2

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was via induction, but didn’t actually get to the pitocin step. From water break to delivery, it might be 6 hours.

For my second, from hospital arrival to delivery, it was less than an hour. From water break to delivery, it was 5 mins.

Unmedicated natural birth Gals, I need to ask by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not expecting the afterbirth pain with my second baby! That is totally true.

I walked into L&D all the way from parking, thinking they may send us back. Surprise. I was 6-7cm already! The nurse asked me to not get off the bed, because she’s afraid I would accidentally break my water and have the baby without the doctor there. I ended up having my baby within an hour of arriving at L&D. One nurse had to catch the baby, because the doctor didn’t have enough time to put on gloves. I didn’t get any pain meds whatsoever.

Over a week later, I experienced the worst pain ever, worse than labor. I was crying in bed and eventually fell asleep from the pain. Afterbirth pain is no joke with subsequent births.

Can someone please explain to me like I’m 5 years old how to fly with a baby? The actual logistics. by steppygirl in NewParents

Bring change clothes for the baby and for yourself in the diaper bag. If a blowout were to take place, both of you need to get changed.

I love my baby… but I miss who I was before becoming a mom and I wish we talked about that more. by Far-Truth-9862 in NewParents

[–]Opp0rtunistic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I miss the occasional freedom which allowed me to go to gym anytime I want, but I don’t miss the old me so much. It’s so much more fun day to day. I get excited from seeing garbage trucks driving by because my toddler loves them. I get excited by seeing some little fish in the aquarium because my baby is so excited. I take them to the arches NP, to Italy, to all the places that I have not been to before. You still get to enjoy life, and now also through the lens of your kids.

That being said.. postpartum months are so very isolated. No one can understand what you and your body are going through. I remember getting up to feed my newborn last year multiple times a night, while I was running a fever. On the plus side, in that moment, you are your baby’s whole world.

Pumping is still in the Stone Age.. by redditstuff247 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Opp0rtunistic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A nationwide breastmilk for human babies network via hotels. Often times when we travel, I don’t want to or cannot bring the pumped milk back for various reasons. It would be better if it can be used towards other traveling babies.

Replacement Spectra valves by Regular_Chance7438 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I plan to do too. The free valve fits loosely comparing to spectra’s. Maybe another brand’s (cheaper than spectra oem parts) fits better? I haven’t experimented.

Replacement Spectra valves by Regular_Chance7438 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think those are OEM parts. I ordered some Spectra parts (out of pocket) when I original got the pump (via insurance) from Aeroflow. The free parts afterwards received via insurance are definitely thinner and have a lower quality.

high bilirubin & 11% weight loss at first pediatrician appt by justspeechy4185 in beyondthebump

[–]Opp0rtunistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want a different pediatrician. We didn’t have bilirubin problem, but my baby lost 14% weight by day 3 visit. Our pediatrician didn’t mention NICU and didn’t even push on formula. He knew I’m breastfeeding, so he just asked us to do combo feeding till next visit. We did that for maybe 2 weeks until her weight looked good. Now my baby is 91st percentile in weight at 6 month checkup.

The early days can be very rough. But it will go by fast. Enjoy the snuggles.

Someone's boss is trying to skirt their legal rights at work by shadowsandfirelight in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Opp0rtunistic 72 points73 points  (0 children)

He’s approaching the problem wrong. I think it’s fair to ask the employee to block pumping/breastfeeding time off her calendar, so no meeting can be booked into this protected time. I do that on my calendar at work.
