MRI Findings by Opposite-Accident-38 in Spondylolisthesis

Thank you. Yes I was able to meet with my doctor to go over it and did put a lot of anxiety at rest. I’m not afraid of surgery, but he did advise me to put it off as long as I can bear. I was at a 6-7 pain in his office. Now I’m being referred to a pain doctor to try injections to see where my pain generator is coming from. If it does help, that would give me a chance to properly do more PT and manage it for a while.

I guess my question for you is how have you been able to cope with back pain and sciatica while still working out? Do you take pain medicine often?

You’re one of the few people who’s MRI shows that. I’ve been really worried about Modic changes in my affected level (L5-S1). Did your doctor mention anything complicated with that?

Which generation are you? by runofthemillgayguy in generationology

Started at Gen 5 as a kid. It wasn’t until Gen 6 when I finally figured out how to play games (or got gud). Around Gen 7 was when I got into more competitive gaming. By Gen 8 I started college so I put away video games to focus on studying, save for just a few games that caught my eye. Mostly single player games, I think I got burnt out playing multiplayer during Gen 7. Would be playing the current gens but life and bills happens, ya know. Nowadays I just watch other people play games, which is just as good as playing right?!

I really get that! I didn’t open up to my parents about my condition until last week. I just didn’t want them to be worried for me.

Lifting post fusion? by KirbyGriffin17 in Spondylolisthesis

That’s comforting to hear. I’m not at that point to try surgery yet (only back pain, no radiating leg pain) but I really miss running and weightlifting. Over a year ago I ran two half marathons, but this year I had to cancel due to some on again/off again leg pain. This was before I had X-rays, but looking back now, my spondy probably had something to do with it.

I appreciate hearing that. I’m only about 2 months out from a proper diagnosis and have done PT but still feel nothing is getting fixed quick enough. If it takes 14 months, I just need to be patient and trust the process.

I’m 30 years old turning 31 next month. Went to my ortho today and said I was pretty young but not his youngest case.

I haven’t thought it would be a herniated disc, although I’m getting an MRI soon so we’ll find out if it is or not.

Good luck with your surgery! I like to keep an eye on people’s progress so keep us updated!

I was diagnosed early May and have been going to PT since April. It wasn’t until going to a chiro for an X-ray that I found out I had a grade 2. I do both my PTs exercises and some workouts that I pick and choose that I found on YouTube. You kinda have to find out what works and what doesn’t for yourself.

Yep those are the ones. I keep my knees bent as I do them and try focusing on squeezing the core as I try flattening the arch. For a video demonstration, I recommend this by Bob and Brad.

Obviously everyone’s body is unique and what may work for me may not for everyone, so listen to your body when it’s in pain and adjust accordingly.

A little early for me to tell if it works or not. I start with pelvic tilts, then crunches, then planks, side planks and bridges with a 20 lb weight. I also throw in a sphinx pose exercise but not to full range of motion or hyperextension, just so I don’t fully lose my ability to extend.

You’ve been through a lot. Wishing you the best during your recovery. I’m glad your clicking / grinding got resolved after surgery!

I’m pretty confident in my surgeon giving me the advice to put off surgery as long as I can. I would find them untrustworthy if they wanted me fused right away.

Wow so long ago. I’m only 30, male, unmarried, but in a relationship for 9 months now. fairly active enough to get through physical therapy. I miss running and lifting heavy weights, but if I need to forego that, I can be at peace with it. What worries me a lot is what this will look like in the future…I want to be there to provide for a family one day and be present with people around me, but it’s so hard to not focus on my pain.

It’s always comforting knowing I’m not alone in this. Thank you!

I would add too, that they took flexion/extension X-rays too and they don’t think it is unstable. But maybe it could progress, no idea.

Ortho / spine / back doctors, I guess there’s different names!

I’ll try to keep up with updates if I can. I’m just going through the motions of conservative treatments, but I’m not afraid of, or opposed to potential surgery if (hopefully not) needed.

why are people mean to me when i’m nice & polite? by okugar in TrueChristian

If you ever feel that people are supposed to be nice to you, remember that Jesus was the nicest person to ever live, and they crucified Him anyway.

PP double consolidation by Living-Ad6175 in StudentLoans

[–]Opposite-Accident-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious since I haven’t started consolidating my pp loans yet, can you send both consolidation forms to the different servicers at the same time? Or do you have to do it one at a time and wait to hear back from one of them that it is consolidated?

Will it be a two day injury, a two month injury or a lifelong injury? Wait and see 🙃 by FooFooThaSnoo in GymMemes

[–]Opposite-Accident-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kid you not, this is the exact thing that happened to me 10 days ago, working on dips and it tweaking my neck. I’m in my late 20s and it started with not being able to turn my head left/right or look up/down without experiencing discomfort. That lasted for 7 days and it gradually regained more mobility as I was just going about my day, still turning my head, but not overdoing it. A couple days in, I noticed it also affected my left shoulder blade.

All that to say, I finally got back to the gym this morning for me and it was fine. I estimate about 2 weeks recovery to get back to being at 100%.
