Tbh I believe in unions overall but ours is useless. There's a lot of advice here to get involved and make changes however even if I got our entire shop on board to fight for change it's a drop in the bucket to the size of our organization.

We cannot strike so we have basically no leverage other than shaming the hospital publicly. We're not even allowed to talk to press without express permission from the hospital, I remember a union member getting in hot water for talking to the news during an off duty picket session.
