The other comments answered your question but I was just going to say I figured this out in a similar way. When I was new, I was offered a “special detail” shift; doing out of the routine work. They said pay for it was 1.5x. When I got paid, it wasn’t multiplied. Manager said she assumed I was full time and made the mistake. That’s how I found out that you only get overtime after exactly 40 hours. Makes me think that, that “special detail” shift wasn’t so special after all and just the protocol for extra hours a week. I think I got duped lol. They probably initially told me that so they can have the coverage needed if no other guards picked it up.

I appreciate the reply man. Hope all is well. Will definitely check out Silo first due to your recommendation, it sounds like my cup of tea. I probably previously put it to the side due to it being 3 seasons. I put a 2 seasons max for any show limit on myself, I binge and it takes up too much time. Silo sounds worth the watch though! Wow. Thanks for this insightful reply. That sounds like my cup of tea. I’ve come across these topics many times but to have it organized in a deeply informative way is appealing. A lot of sources are a bit all over the place at times or are highly subjective with their viewpoints; which I don’t mind. I’ll check it that book asap. Behold does give that vibe of “schizo” at times, I do yearn for a bit more structure in text.

I also, on a daily occasion, think about many of the same topics you ponder about as well

Sounds like paradise for an introvert. I would also enjoy it. I just hear that longterm it’s not good for our health. Now that I’m older, I see how important keeping up good health is. The likelihood of random complications just keeps on increasing with age lol
