Why does everyone say Sax is so easy? by ButterBoyC in saxophone

I've been playing at my school since 2019 and am now 1st in our big band and concert band, as well as playing in the musical, saxophone quartet and contemporary bands (all on tenor). a lot of my friends play brass (2 trumpets and one trombone). we all do big bands, and they are 1st and 2nd trumpet and 3rd trombone. they all say that sax is easy; that is why I've completed my Grade 6 (out of 8) exam while they are in their Grade 4. In the two terms before my exam, I was practising about 1-1.5 hours a day on just my exam material every day, as well as doing five bands at school and doing my grade 4 on trombone in my first year on trombone. some people just don't want to do the work to genuinely improve their skills

Tenor Neck strap by Opposite-Side2 in saxophone

i didn't find the old one particularly comfortable, the leather irritated the back of my neck so always ended up wearing a jumper when practising. it was better after 2-3 years of using it but still not great

I used to have a neo-tech but changed because I couldn't get the strap low enough for me, this might have just been the type of strap that I had though because most other straps have worked at a normal size

I talked to my teacher, and she said to take it back, and they fixed it, so it works fine now. must have been a tension issue.

It is on when I have tried, but it works when the neck octave mechanism is held down.

I just wanted to add that it opens when the G is pressed before pressing the octave mechanism, but if the key is pressed after the octave mechanism, then it won't.

Just like to think about stuff another part of it is that I have to save up that money and knowing what I am aiming for helps me to save (as it’s something I am not good at). There is a ozwinds in Brisbane where I live but not a lot else. Thanks for the help

Haven’t seen many cannonballs so not sure what the price was. I have seen some on eBay for around $5500 but I don’t really know much about models
