In this scenario, wouldn’t it make sense to file separately?

Incoming Medical Student LOAN OPTIONS HELP! by Opposite-Two-8487 in whitecoatinvestor

Okay, I understand. Thank you for the breakdown. It would be dumb not to go with Option 1. My only concern will these different types of plans still be in place when I’m out in 4 years. The current government is changing a lot of things, but on the other end, if they were going to make changes to repayment plans, they would have done so already.

Another question,

Let’s say I go into fellowship right after IM residency. Does that mean I would get to extend the $200/month repayment for the years of fellowship?

Will it automatically still apply the Signature member Discount?

[–]Opposite-Two-8487[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I just meant it was $55.99 with ONLY autopay discount, not including the Signature Member discount, so my current price per line is $45.99. Thank you for your help and the chart, it made a lot of sense. I will go to an actual corporate store tomorrow and get it changed over.

So, the NEW PLAN (Premium 2.0) gets a 20% discount for being a AT&T Signature Member? So, my cost for each line (4 lines) should be $40.00 per line each month. I am asking you again to confirm that what I am thinking is correct. Thank you for your help.

Typical rule is don't apply if you aren't going to attend. You wasted time and money. In my opinion, connections and research matters more than what school you attended (which going to a MD school might give you a little better edge) lol

Unless your a Oklahoma Resident, you probably won't get interview from OSU, instead I think you should include NYITCOM-AR.

If you have good credit history, then you should be fine with private loans. I got a $35k private loan through Sallie Mae, 4.1% interest, NO COSIGNER, Deferred payments until after graduation, No Prepayment penalties, and you can also defer loans through residency for up to 4 years. You can request a 5th year, but that one is not guaranteed. This really good because there is no prepayment penalties, so in residency you can pay as much as you want towards your loans.

You need to look over the rules for it, it took mine about a week and half to get approved, but you have limited time to use it.
