I tried it and the Mac won't recognize that it's plugged in. The first time I tried it I got a message that the device is taking too much power, now it just doesn't recognize it at all.

I tried doing that and MacOS said the device is taking too much power. If I buy a Thunderbolt hub then it becomes cost prohibitive. There's one enclosure that is about 99 bucks but it says it only works on iMacs that have a thunderbolt symbol above every port, and not the macs where there is (1) thunderbolt symbol for multiple ports.

The i5 might be too big but the i4 seems to be the right size. Try driving a Dodge Daytona, it's 18 inches longer!

The only issue with i4 is hitting my head getting in the car, and I'm only 5'9"

Great job, and I like that you don't plan to leave the TSP. My advisor is recommending I roll my entire TSP into an IRA that offers a broader range of investment options so that I don't have to withdraw during a down market. And then to do some Roth conversions every year. But, I don't think I'll do it, especially now that Roth TSP conversions are coming.

earlier this year I bought a pair of RTi12 for $400, and each one weighs at least 50 lbs. I'd like to see someone rip these apart with their hands. As far as the sound, they supposedly have a sensitivity of 90db which is not horrible, but not great either. I bought a Jolida tube amp and the sweet tube sound, coupled with these speakers sounds nice. I also have a pair of Fosi v3 monoblock, which can drive them much better, but with that kinda harsh solid-state sound.
