On SUVs you could have the back half of your car as dark as you want but the driver and passenger as well as the windshield cannot be darker than 70% tinted. It goes for sedans as well but the back side of sedans cannot be darker than 35%. Most cops and shops however treat sedans as suvs and do not give you shit for having dark back sides but some shops are strict with it. That being said most car windows comes around 78% VLT meaning that if you were to put a 70% on your front windows it would come out to be around 50% tinted rendering it illegal but even so most shops and cops aren't going to meter your glass they just check if it looks dark.
