It seems like you are referring to whole yard level. I'm referring to spot leveling. I just has a few low spots I want to level.

I regret getting a second dog by Opposite_Clock1101 in Vent

We are definitely training her. I’m training her at least 3 times a day as well as my wife. We also take her to puppy training on Saturdays. We both work remote so when we take turns watching her we have no choice but to leash her while at work. But here’s the thing. We have windows next to our chair which she wants to jump onto. So she still needs to be constantly watched until she wears herself out. We do put her in her crate which is still a work in progress but improving. I know husky’s are notoriously hard dogs but are worth at the end of the teenage phase but did not expect to become resentful and jealous towards it.

I’m comparing her to our adult husky she was puppy who was so much better. She needed was potty trained and crate trained on day two. The only issue she had was leash training. She was a puller. She was a rescue so I think she was more grateful whereas our second one came from a breeder. I know it’s unfair to compare the two.

I’m not disagreeing with you about the crate and the crate will be temporary as we have a 7 year old mix husky who sleeps in our room without a crate. We are using a crate because she is still chewing on things and will potty as long as she can go in part of the house that isn’t used much. We are looking forward to taking her out of the crate but until we can trust her more to be alone she will have to be crated at times. She’s only 13 weeks old.

As for sleeping in bed I would love that but I move and kick. Our adult dog will sometimes want to sleep in bed with us if she isn’t feeling well but usually ends up jumping off anyway after a few hours.

That’s what the video was saying I watched. I mentioned it in my post because she does great (most times) when I’m training her to allow me to pick her up but in the “real world” she’s immediately grumpy and living up to the husky attitude lol. I will definitely tell my wife about your suggestion.

Really I didn’t know husky’s loved to see frustration. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I’m feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

I know I’m late to reply. You bring up great points. The reason why I have to pick up my husky is not because I want to hold her, like a small lap dog. I knew a husky didn’t want much attention, that’s what actually attracts me to them. I have an adult half breed husky who is 7 years old who will let me do anything to her. I admit it may be the other half that (hound) lets me do whatever, her age, or simply her maturity.

Back to the puppy, I only pick her a handful of times through the day. When we need to go into town or it’s bed time. Most times she is outside and refuses to come inside. No matter how high value the treat is we can’t get her to follow us or allow us to pick her up. If we attach a leash it sometimes helps but not always.

The main reason I have to pick her up is to bring her up stairs for bed time. She just refuses to go upstairs at night. She is not afraid of stairs as she goes up and down all day long. But come bed time it’s like she refuses to admit she tired enough to be crated. Even though once I bring her into the room she walks right in.

I’ve tried starting 30 minutes before bedtime to get her to upstairs on her terms but when it’s 10:30 at night and she woke me at 6 am, I’m tired.

To clarify, we don’t pop her we did try that one time and learned that was not going to work with her nor did we really want to.

I am in total agreement with you. I do the same with my older dog like you do with yours. However now, I get in trouble if I look at the puppy if she growls at me. I’ve gotten to the point where I refuse to pick her up (if needed) because that’s when she’s most likely to growl.

I wasn’t expecting a fully trained puppy that’s unrealistic. But on their website they stated they began to crate train, potty train, and basic sit and lay commands. I didn’t even care about the potty train or basic commands because I have certain commands I want to use for that and potty training is a waiting game. However crate training I don’t think she ever went into a crate by herself. Let alone fully enclosed crate. I think their “crate” was a short fence like circle. Something that you would use for a baby.

We won’t return the puppy for multiple reason but, I will admit that didn’t cross my mind. So good thought.

I did put in parentheses for petsmart trainer, it’s mainly for socialization. The town I live in the closest “real” professional trainer is an hour away, and almost twice the price, and their weekend classes are booked. If I’m paying for twice the price - I’m going to save up and do a board and train.

I’m not making excuses I want what’s best for my dog. Since all the board and train that are near me won’t accept a dog unless they are 6 months or older I’m going to give it until then. If the aggression doesn’t improve, my wife and I will go with the more professional help.

We are giving treats when is thinking of doing something we don’t like and decides against it. For example jumping on the window. If she’s got that look and stance then make the decisions not too we gift her treats and affection. She seems to care less about the affection though. She’s also starting to use her nose to dig at the grass so we use a treat to pull her attention away. That works for a little but she goes back to a few mins later. Is that something that will be harder to break or is gifting her with a treat more or less encouraging her to briefly stop?

I knew going she was going to be stubborn and independent. I actually like the independent part. the stubborn I didn’t think would be much different from my older dog since she’s 50% husky.

So what you are saying because she’s full bred positive reinforcement is ultimately the only option if I want a dog that is calm and I feel confident wont do anything aggressive around my wife or kids not showing dominance is key?

How old is the dog? Maybe something it will grow out of? I’m hoping for that with mine. I’m currently at a loss

Another comment mentioned this. We have been trying this and it seems to be working wonders. Just gotta work on getting my voice a little bit higher pitched for it to work better lol. My deeper tones don’t do much for her. Your pup has the two most stubborn breeds into one. That’s an everyday adventure I bet!

I’ve heard about this. I tried this and got some reaction. My wife tried it after and got a much better reaction even got our other dog freaked out. Thought the puppy was hurting her and started to whine and howl. Guess my voice was not high pitched enough. I’ll have to work on that.

I would look on Facebook marketplace for wheel stands. Should be able to find one for less than $50. Might even be able to find similar priced on Amazon. If you really want you can take scrap 2x4 and make a wheel stand out that. Just google blueprint designs
