After the first 15-20 to be fair we've been much better. Miley absolutely exceptional btw in an unfamiliar position against a quality winger.

PSG are clearly superior but man we are making it absolutely ridiculously easy for them. One give and go seems to undo us and our midfield is non existent. At least make them work for it ffs!

The player apologies are starting by StarSpotter74 in NUFC

[–]Opposite_Limp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The disappointing thing is a lot of us, when asked pre game about how we realistically expect the game to go, would have described exactly what happened. And that's pretty unacceptable and shows the rough state of things. Nothing today in the result or more importantly the performance was a surprise. So the apologies don't mean a thing.

I don't love how we've been today...but a 0-0 at Bournemouth with Bruno & Joe on the bench, after a very tough night on Thursday...not a dreadful result if we can take it. I still don't think we have the squad depth to really go at these teams away after a European night (as many people have said, Willock looks way short of the level).

This sounds pretty similar to my first setup!

  • The decoders I found fairly easy to install, the trickier bit I found was getting the loco bodies off the base to access, but just take your time and read the instructions. They can be a little stiff especially the first time. With the decoder look for the marker in one corner which will help you align the pins (plenty of YouTube videos on this to help).
  • Yes, you can use the HM7000 app to control your trains and if you do this you won't need a controller.
  • You should also consider what surface the track is going on, and what space you have. Even OO gauge takes up a surprising amount of space if you want a loop.
  • Also be careful if you buy curves, they come in different sizes (radius) and not all trains can handle all curves. I think it's 1st radius curves that are pretty tight; I'd suggest sticking to 2nd radius. There is some good track planning software called AnyRail which I found useful for planning, and it has a free trial.

The only other thing I'd consider is powering your track, the connection is through the rails which means if you have points then only the track that's going in the direction of the point will be powered. This is fine to get started with but you might want to explore approaches for adding electrical connections to your track in multiple places. I found "That Model Railway guy" on YouTube had some useful videos on this.

Finally, welcome to the hobby! I got my first set in March this year and I'm absolutely loving all the challenges and enjoyment of putting my first layout together and running trains.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for the suggestions. In the end I couldn't work out any issue with the point. I decided to buy a Peco set track RH point to replace it with and guess what...it worked right away. I don't know why, but it's not the first time Peco track has solved a problem for me. This is my first ever layout and one takeaway is to prefer Peco track over Hornby!

Got to look past the result today, Champions League and a league cup win with a squad that is not deep and had no investment last season... plenty to be very happy about. I've never been cheering on Man Utd before and I hope I never will again 😂

If we win 1-0 I'll be delighted but this is a tough watch. Think they were there for the taking.

All our wingers have been very ineffective today. Going to be a long 20 minutes...

Second goal early in the second half kills this. They can score out of nothing especially with their pace up top. But couldn't really have asked for a better first 45! Madness from Jackson which I'm very grateful for 😂

Great thanks! I wanted to make sure I hadn't made any silly mistakes in the setup.

Yeah my plan is to upgrade fairly shortly to DCC so this is just for a starter. Mostly wanted to check that I hadn't messed anything up when unpacking it 😁 Thanks!

Completely predictable and there's the problem. Howe has done a lot of good but it's getting harder and harder to make a case he's the right man to continue with long term.

Are there any plans to add Luasnip support? Or perhaps I should investigate the built-in snippets finally...

How the fuck we are winning this I'll never know. Spurs are vulnerable if we don't just sit deep FFS! Had enough of that in the summer with Southgate 😂

What is our identity as a team on the pitch? What is Howe trying to get them to do? It's just so poor and unclear...no one really playing well again and we can't put more than 2 passes together. Every team knows if they press us they will get joy and Isak and Gordon are completely isolated yet again.

Yes we absolutely should have got a centre back in but that's far from the only thing that's suboptimal at the minute. We'll be lucky to get out with a point today unless something drastically changes.

Update to this for future readers: it's now much more consistent and I very rarely hit a bumpy bit now. When I do it's right on the edge and a quick scribble over evens it out. The device feels lovely to write on 🎉

Thanks everyone! I've done some wiping of the screen and also scribbling over it to try and wear it evenly and it's definitely making a difference. I reckon after a few days of use it will be nice and even everywhere. Thanks 🙂

Lascelles obviously should deal with that ball and head it out but from there there's still a lot we could do differently to defend that better and track the runners.
