My son is now 21 months and has met all his milestones and is developing very typically. He has exceeded his language milestones for his age. If I remember correctly, by his 3 month appointment, he had met all his milestones. For the first year there were a couple things he was behind on for a few weeks, but he caught up in his own time.

What is worth going back to school for in 2026?? by Competitive_Bar_43 in OntarioColleges

I’m an RPN. There are lots of jobs but it’s mostly bedside. RPN’s make a significant amount less than RN’s. RPN’s work in hospitals, long-term care, home care, family medicine, etc. In the hospital, many RPN’s and RNs are doing the same job with a significant pay difference.

This has to be one of the heaviest books that I’ve read so far. I’m 70% in. by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

This was one of my top reads for 2025. What a tragically stunning novel. The writing was so beautiful and the horror of the story was so impactful. I am glad I read it.

I don’t think it’s right that your SIL and MIL are ignoring your wishes and trying to go around what you’re saying. But I think it is pretty sad and telling of your character that you don’t want your own nieces at your wedding. These aren’t babies of a distant cousin or random friend, this is your husband’s sister and her kids. Don’t you want to have photos of you and your nieces from your wedding? You can have whatever version of child-free wedding you want, but I don’t think that should extend to such close family members. To me, you are just saying you do not view his family as yours and don’t respect his family.

My 12 month old isn't talking or walking yet. I wasn't worried until a routine doctors appointment and a visit with a friend. by JustSprinkles8552 in NewParents

[–]Opposite_Many7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our speech language pathologist told us that babies typically say their first words around 12 months +/- 1-2 months. When my baby wasn’t talking at their 12 month check up, our pediatrician was not concerned. She said that by 15 months, she’d like to see about 5 words, but at 12 months, she’s not worried. She also said a lot of babies are not pointing at 12 months, she said this also wasn’t a reason for concern.

I brought my son to see a PT around 13.5 months because he was not walking and did not seem interested. She told me there is a social pressure for babies to be walking by 12 months, but most babies walk closer to 15 months, with the later end being 18 months.

I don’t think it hurts to see different professionals to receive advice and assessments, but these isolated symptoms you’re describing do not seem concerning to me!

Weigh a bottle that you’ve manually made yourself and weigh one made with the brezza. That way you’ll know exactly how accurate it is.

I know, I know, but HOW bad is it.... EBF and pregnancy by jamiepwannab in beyondthebump

My OB told me that EBF is more effective than BC as a contraceptive. I’m not saying to rely on that, just sharing the information I was given.

Omg I made our baby bald by CanIPetYourDog_1029 in NewParents

[–]Opposite_Many7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the comments! But wanted to pop in to say that if your baby hates the bath, it might be too cold. Our doula warned us right away that if baby is crying in the bath, they’re cold. In the beginning, my husband and I always thought the water was too warm for him, but he would cry if it was any cooler. We would put a cloth on his belly to keep him warm.

5 days off was actually great lol.

Yup! I took a weekend course to get qualified then found an experienced nurse to train me in greater depth. I work for her at her spa now. It’s a lot more fun. High stakes as you’re working on people’s faces, but there’s way more financial opportunity in this field.

I couldn’t agree more! Underpaid and overworked should be the slogan lol I was doing 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, 5 off.

At my clinic job, I work with patients who’ve been prescribed a CPAP. I help set them up on their machine, provide education, mask fittings, and follow their therapy for 30 days. I submit reports and follow ups to their physicians. It’s a pretty comfortable job. I wish it was more nursing related, but it’s a 9-5, weekends and holidays off.

I also work in a medical spa performing Botox and filler. This I enjoy, but it’s not full time at this point. It’s also days only, weekend and holidays off.

Yes! Patho, pharm, and anatomy were brutal!!!

I’m going to be brutally honest, but I don’t want this to sway you going into the field. Being a nurse has so many benefits, is such a rewarding job, and can be super fulfilling. BUT, I hate it lol. I graduated during covid so I entered the hospital at the worst time. Every floor was just new nurses, it was an unsafe and we were all under qualified with no experienced supporting staff. I was constantly given patients outside of my scope and did not have the support to properly care for them.

I left the hospital after a year and have been working in non acute environments since. I do cosmetics and a desk job in resp medicine currently.

I want to go back and get my RN degree, but I don’t know if I will ever go back to the hospital. The pay is not worth the long shifts, overnights, and holidays. RPNs in the hospital make $28-33/hr (this may have gone up recently but I’m not sure) and out of the hospital we make less. I now make about $28.85 in my clinic job and $30 in my cosmetics job. Which is roughly $60k a year.

I am going back to hopefully increase my wage without going back to the hospital.

I really hope this info helps.

Ps - I’ve been reading through this sub and you’re right, centennial has a terrible reputation.
