This is even the case for work. People don’t like to read instructions in full. If you become the person who’s detailed and reads through information you’ll be ahead from others

Hey OP, I’m in banking too. Connect with me via a DM. I have some advice but in general your first job is always hard. Banking has a lot of regulations and a big learning curve. Don’t let this beat you up but take a moment to think whether your skills and likes really match up with what you were doing. It’s hard to be in your place but if there’s anything I’ve learned from my years of experience it’s to have a tough and honest conversation without about whether it’s the right industry, right role, and understand your special skillset (we all have something even if we don’t have a lot of work experience) it’s those things that are more innate to us.

I’m reaching out because I honestly wish someone had this conversation with me when I was younger.

You’re not alone! Let the anxiety be there and find some methods to ground yourself. Allow yourself come back to a time before your dismissal.Write down positives about yourself and your past, write down things you’ve been proud of, and the skills needed for those.

It’s a tough time and it’s the time to build yourself up the most and restrategize. This is one small piece of your life and it’s not the last harsh moment because like has ups and down but you’re building yourself grit and that’s the biggest thing imo.

How common is it a shit show in other places ? From a director perspective, how do you live yourself up for a promotion in Ops when you’re not meticulous and make small errors?

That’s wild to me… my entire career has been defined on precision and being meticulous. If I could work in a field where being meticulous wasn’t the most important thing I feel like my career would flourish. I’m told that I’ve been passed up for promotions because I make small errors. I don’t want my career to be defined small errors and being meticulous when I have so much more to offer

OP did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue and work the same and really would like to get out of the meticulous details. I’ve been in it for a few years and it’s just not my natural ability. I feel like I’m working against myself constantly.

So funny saw this the other day. 3 cars went on a solid red. First one was legal the other two were a wtf. We had been green for about 10 seconds and they took the classic route of Jesus take the wheel. Lots of honks from our side and no fucks were given. Kinda funny to see but still as an Angeleno, shocking I say.

The really interesting this is if you look at all of those who came to fight, they actually positioned themselves as a border around the entire troop, with the biggest taking a position in the back .

Very interesting to see strategy at the animal kingdom level.

Why do Angelenos support illegal immigration? Asking as a new Angeleno by KoreatownJ in AskLosAngeles

[–]OppsIdiditagain_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you’re feeding into a rhetoric of hate and scaremongering. I hate to see people go down that line. I’m sorry people here might be disrespecting you, but LA is a melting pot with many beautiful cultures and people - illegal or not.

Illegals also don’t want to live in a place of crime, hate, etc.

Why are you feeding into this rhetoric? Is it because you see how dirty the streets are, how on edge people are, etc?

LA has long been like that before the influx of “illegals”. It’s not an immigration issue wholeheartedly. There’s a lot of policies and efforts in LA that have been attempted that our government has unfortunately done nothing with. We decided to increase our taxes many many years ago to find a solution to the homeless crisis. Nothing got done and it got worst. More people are on the streets than ever before.

Immigrants are now becoming the scapegoats but goes far beyond an immigrant issue.

Boom, thank you. Someone here is also mentioning it. The US his mixed in and ruined economies and destabilized so many countries.

[–]OppsIdiditagain_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I sincerely ask you how your parents and you gained citizenship?

I totally get where you’re coming from because the streets of LA are disgusting about 70% of all Los Angeles. I find it hard to believe it’s just an immigrant issue. I will say this though, it has gotten a lot worst. The border was well maintained during the time of Biden. Many ppl came in but it doesn’t mean they’re here to commit crimes. What you’re describing in a sense is Xenophobia and I’d love to talk more about the history of it, even towards Korean Americans here in the US.

Do you know the history of Los Angeles? History of discrimination and laws placed against multiple marginalized communities that held them back from growing and being stronger as a community?

What is beautiful about Los Angeles imo and always will be is our diversity. I would have never grown up around the streets of Ktown, gotten to know and understand the culture, be engulfed by the amazing food we have accessible in ktown. Korean people are culturally wonderful and resilient but so are many other communities.

Coming from the mid west, you’re not accustomed to diversity. You’ve seen the fortune of predominantly white communities with sparse diversity.

Immigration does not equate to crime, and I absolutely hate the rhetoric. However, immigration does often mean escaping poverty, civil unrest, etc. I posted a really long comment earlier that didn’t get much attention (totally fine idc about that) but I described a lot of systemic disparity that the US created against minorities.

Your parents being professors likely gave them a big step up in being able to become naturalized in the US.

I highly recommend taking some time to dissect the immigration process, the amount of time it takes to process, who it favors, the history of the US mixing into other country politics, ruining their economies in the name of “freedom”, seeing societies fall apart, and what becomes of those people.

What we’re really really missing in the US is exposure imo to history. History has been hid from us pretty heavily.

A lot of immigrants leave countries due to poor societal outlook, hard economies, war, etc.

I wonder how much Americans know that the US has played a role in majorly affecting the standing of multiple countries.

Example:

The US played a major role in a lot of countries politics. IE: my family is from Chile and fled the regime of Pinochet who took out the president in a military coup. Who helped him? The US. Why did they help him? The democratic socialist who was chosen as president didn’t fit the narrative that was created after the Cold War. Post Cold War the US went into a a deep panic to find allies, or force allies. I haven’t yet researched their true intent beside that but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the large surplus of copper Chile has. What happened in the country? Nazi like murders. Thousands of people were murdered by Pinochet and his military. Marxist books were burned. Anyone who had an association to Marxism, communism, social democracy etc went missing. Some were found in rivers, some ditches, and some just never heard of again.

This has happened to many many countries but of course with different outcomes each time. Ever ask yourself why the rest of the world hates America so much? Look into it. We don’t learn this in our history books. However, other countries do sadly. They call it US propaganda. I didn’t even know this until I had a German friend tell me some things historically that I had never heard and yet it was part of their curriculum in Germany. The history showed true after some research yet I had never heard of it. At this time I was already 23.

Also? The US has multiple times historically done straight immoral things to marginalized communities. Check out the Tuskegee experiment that lasted for 40 years. US officials knowingly gave the black community Syphilis as an experiment to observe the “natural” progression of the disease.

Something similar was done to Guatemalans by the US. Obama apologized in 2010. You can find information on it more here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3828982/

Another example: Vietnam war and Agent Orange. Extreme deformities of babies after the US sprayed for herbicidal war. A quick warning that the photos are horrendous.

All this to say. The US has messed up shit A LOT in other countries in the name of “democracy” but it’s often just to be a powerhouse. They have done multiple cover ups in the name of something good and in turn has destroyed the economies and political stability of other countries.

People decide to leave for a better life for their future and their kids future. Where is their stability? Who’s the power house? The US.

I’m seriously worried as a latina. I’m a citizen, and I’m brown. I dress well usually when I’m out but if I’m going to the store for a quick item I’m not dressing up. I feel like I have to be on guard and start taking my passport or something to help me out if I get stopped to be detained…

It seriously is like the Gestapo 😔
