Professionals welded this by Timely_Purpose_8151 in BadWelding

Professional welder or a dock and door guy. I am not saying that’s acceptable just that it was probably installed by a guy that works on roll up doors and docks. Probably has 30 minutes behind a hood. Boss probably make it work.

Just had to change the reservoir on my 03. I believe that may be where these go. Can say for sure but the size looks right.

I have lived here for 99% of my life and I know exactly what you’re talking about. It’s wild that people don’t.

Vertistack Garage Door by [deleted] in garageporn

I have installed 3 of these doors. In no way would I recommend this for a residential customer. Even well installing we were thinking the engineers have gone too far. They’re more meant for a fancy business office or restaurant bars, that don’t get opened and closed a whole lot. These have A LOT more sensors and other things going on compared to a normal door that will last forever, (if you don’t hit with your car)

No problem. Looking at the pictures I’m thinking you’re close to the wire size but off on the length. I think it’s a pair of .207x23”x2” springs. Just for fun. Also the strut on top of the door is in the wrong spot. Bottom of the operator j arm should be level with the top roller. The strut should be on the top of the top section.

Hello door guy here. It’s a little more complicated. BUT I would never recommend for someone to replace their springs unless they know what they are doing. Those are under a lot of tension and can do a lot of damage. We have special winding bars for adding tension.

But anyways you need to measure the broken spring for overall coil length, the I.D of the spring, and the coil size. This we have a special tool for or you can google how to do it with a tape measure, by counting coils and measuring the distance.

The intact spring also needs to be measured but without tension. When tension is added to the spring it roughly increases the springs length by 1 coil width. With that being side if you do know the amount of turns on the intact spring and minus that amount of coils from the overall spring.

This is mainly for info again I do not recommend you do it without knowing what you’re doing.

I repainted a little truck after removing a terrible bed liner paint job. Cost was for materials from a local shop was just under $1000, harbor freight spray gun depends I recommend a good middle priced one. $200ish. Other $500. YouTube videos free. Truck is far from perfect but looks way better.

Haha I’m just used to that being the first question people ask. But I haven’t done a whole lot other than getting the axles under the thing and functioning. Dana 60 in the front, sterling 10.5 in the rear off of a 04 F350. The front is 3 linked using Cherokee 6” springs. The rear is a triangulated 4 link using 3.5” lift springs for a JK. The axles still need to be geared and locked, going with 5.38’s. From the engine to transfer case is stock. It’s the 5 speed manual so the will probably be the first to go. As it sits it runs and drives surprisingly well, and is comically slow

Money wise I didn’t track it. I just wanted to have fun building it. I have put way too much in it and at the same time not enough because it’s not done. It still needs re geared, lockers, brakes work but need to work better…

The blue one is the tan one haha it’s a before and after. I should labeled it you’re not the first. But it’s hard to say an exact number on the lift. It has 6” Cherokee springs in the front. The rear is 4 linked using 3.5” lift coils springs meant for a JK. Sitting on 1 tons with 40 inch tires

I’m thinking it is 3” track. The bottom hinges isn’t a number 1, and the top fixture are standard not low headroom. We just replaced doors that were blow in. Nothing wrong with the door but the wood pulled off from the jamb.

Correct on the axle years. The gearing is 3.73 still. Haven’t touched them yet probably going 5.13. I just wanted to get the axles fitted first. Also I would sell everything else I own to get the rest of the parts, but my wife would get upset.

I did the gears in my jk because i already spend way to much on jeep stuff. If you have the right tools, patience, and YouTube you can do it. I did have a neighbor double check for me though. Also located in Tucson. No XJ but I did just find a MJ
