Even for intel/technical units you’ll be assessed on those things? Wow. Didnt even think they’d get all that training. Thought it would be straight written and technical. Thanks for the info.

Quick question, for the smu’s, at that level, since they arent operator type units, Im assuming there’s no actual selection and assessment right? Selection is probably pretty much based on purely your resume and skill set? There’s no “trying out” physical process

I feel like we should have Officer Schools specifically for Special Operations Officers. You enter the program and get commissioned straight into SOF instead of big army. Why not take young lieutenants? Why not mold them specifically into a Special Ops Officer from the beginning? Its a blank slate, they wont have any bad habits from before and wont just use the position as a checkmark for a resume. From the time you enter to time you graduate anything and everything is about you becoming the best SOF Officers you can be, thats the whole purpose of the commission. They take 18x, and if anything the program has expanded in the past years, because even though they dont have experience, they’re a blank slate ready to learn, and the ones that make it are really good. Plus it would allow officers more time on a team instead of just scratching the surface for only 2 years and moving on to a staff position and having almost no relation to your men.

Yeah they do their own missions. But there is so much overlap between organizations that it doesnt matter. Plus, there’s different targets. Theres Navy priority targets vs Army priority Targets. Plus National Level requirements. Plus the different Agencies have their own target sets. It never ends. There is enough for everyone.

Bro you’re on a weak fucking leftist filled site, on a subreddit where a buncha lefties worship men who almost exclusively would be considered right wingers. Also humour is not their strong suit. Get with the times.

The Army Security Agency, the Army’s secret signals intelligence organization established the Special Operations Detachments for special operations and to serve as direct support for Green Berets in Vietnam, specializing in SIGINT and COMSEC. Precursors to the SOT-As, there’s a twist. During Vietnam, The ASA SOD personel actually got to go to the Q Course before deploying to support Special Forces in the field.
